I assume you mean Fechner's set on Robert-Houdin, not Houdini.

$9.95 with free shipping :D

If you are speaking of the Miracle Factory's, The Magic of Robert-Houdin, The last two fine sets sold on eBay went for $275 - $310 respectively...which means that a worn out set would sell for a couple of grand on Martinka or Potter & Potter ;)

No, he's talking about the two-volume set published by Christian Fechner in Paris.

I think it's $250 to $400.

The set published by Fechner in Paris is in French, not English.

I wonder why he refused to release an English translation of that set?

Poor magazine review of the first two?? :o

The last set of the French volumes, which includes facsimile memorabilia/ephemeral material sold for $400 on eBay from a French seller.

He IS talking about the English set of volumes 1 and 2 of Fechner's book! I know quite well that volumes 3 and 4 aren't in English since I have the original French editions.

And, yes, Fechner didn't care for Swiss's review of 1 and 2 (this from a film producer who had more than his share of crappy reviews of his films in Paris) and childishly decided not to print volumes 3 and 4 in English. The extremely wealthy can behave like children and frequently do. It's a shame.

And that's what I provided him some comparable sale prices on, the English two volume set.

One shouldn't speak disrespectfully of the dead.

I've heard that even the not-extremely-wealthy can act like children ...

I doubt that Christian's wealth had anything to do with his decision not to publish the English-language edition, but do think that his financial situation allowed him to produce some gorgeous publications, including his auction catalogs, for which we all should be very appreciative.
