Antique Brass Corner Rounder

Postby T Baxter » February 19th, 2011, 4:23 pm

I have an antique brass corner rounder for cards. I'd like to evaluate its worth. Who do I talk to?

It's almost identical to this one:

Did you look at the last Potter auction? I'm pretty sure they had some in there.

Yes, thanks, I had a look at the Potter auction. I don't think their corner rounders were exactly like the one that I have.

T. Baxter,

Corner rounders typically sell from $750 - $2000 depending on condition, maker, previous owner, etc.

Does yours have a maker's mark on it anywhere?

This rounder is in excellent condition, works perfectly. I haven't cleaned the brass, not knowing if the "patina" is desirable or not.

There appear to be markings on the lever, but can't make out what they are or their meaning.

Could I send photos to someone for an opinion? If so, contact me at: tombaxter@cogeco.ca

Many thanks,

Tom,

Do NOT clean the piece. Unless it has caked on mud, leave it exactly as it is.

You can send pics to me and I'll tell you what I can: jason.england@gmail.com

I've received good information from several here and have decided to place the brass corner rounder that I have up for auction. I'm curious as to the best place to do this.

Any thoughts?

Tom;
I think Jason is pretty much on the mark. I've turned down $1000 for just my corner rounder (not including the other half of the set). Here are a couple images to compare with yours:

If I ever part with mine, it will be as a set along with the scissors trimmer:
