FS: Card to Fire Wallet, used

Postby Nathan Allen » February 19th, 2010, 3:25 am

For Sale: well-used "Card to Fire Wallet"

SEE PICTURE HERE: http://maniacofmagic.com/Documents/Fire%20Wallet.jpg

Well-used, and in rough shape, but still very functional as a regular fire-wallet. I believe this was a Fun Inc. product. It's not a $100 wallet, is what I'm saying. :) But at the very least, you can have an emergency back-up if your decent fire-wallet is ever lost or damaged.

The fire is produced by a flint-wheel ignitor (you can replace the flint when needed just like a Zippo), with flat wick-pads. It holds fluid and sparks up beautifully.

Magnets hold the "fire side" closed (to prevent the fluid from evaporating before use, to ensure an instant fire extinguish when closed again, and to prevent the "fire side" from accidentally opening up while showing the normal side).

Dark-brown leather-appearance exterior.

Was originally a "card to fire wallet". Just add another playing-card-sized piece of plastic (it's been lost somewhere) and it'll work again. The inside "zippered compartment" (where the card makes its reappearance) is broken. Just an open slot. Don't draw attention to the fact there used to be a zipper - just say "inside this compartment inside the wallet" and it still looks impossible to people. I've used it as a card-wallet countless times AFTER the zipper broke, and there was never a decline in reaction. Usually I have the wallet bound by several wide rubber bands (this adds to the "impossibility" of the card being inside a "sealed" wallet, also totally ensures no evaporation of the fluid).

As I said, it IS pretty used and abused. I probably wouldn't use it in a classy close-up type of environment, but in a stage or platform type of situation, it'll definitely get the job done.

Even though it's not pristine, I no longer use it in my act, and I figured it would be better to offer it here than to just let it sit in my drawer for years. I believe I paid around $50 for this about three or four years ago when it was new.

I'm asking $15.00, free shipping within the continental USA. Payments via PayPal. Just send me a private message - I'll hold the item for you and give you my PayPal address.

Thank you.

...Man, pretty soon, I'll have to pay somebody to take this thing. It's used, yeah, but it still works. Everybody already has an emergency back-up fire-wallet?

This would make an interesting eBay auction. People could bid how much they're willing to pay to have Nathan throw it away.

Okay. The people have spoken, and the wallet is now in its new home, nested comfortably on a pile of damp coffee grounds in the trash can.

If you have to ask, you can't afford it.
