I love that portrait of Harry.
I did a blackboard painting
of him a few years ago.

It hangs in our great room, and
its really spooky, because it feels
like his eyes are following you.

Dad say's that photo makes him look
like a conductor.

It has the look of a broad felt tip marker. That got me thinking....When did people start using felt tip / magic markers. The piece is dated 1951. Some quick research on-line suggests that felt tip markers originated in the 1940s and the "magic marker" came into being in the early 50s. so the technology doesn't seem to rule out authenticity. It also might be a very broad fountain pen but I doubt it. I can take a more detailed / better lit photo if it is of interest to you.
