Worlds Beyond question

Postby Guest » December 18th, 2005, 2:27 pm

Hi,
i'd just wanted to know if some of you know the price of Paul Curry's worlds beyond on the secondary market.
And if you know why it is so rare to find also if it was printed in many copies.

I just bought a used copy from Bradbury books....paid $35.00 for it. It appears to be in very good condition.

If I recall correctly, there were only 1000 copies printed.

I remember ordering it from L and L after it had appeared in one of their new catalogs only to be informed a short time later that they didn't have any copies or something like that -- it's been a couple of years ago and the details are hazy. I always wondered why it was hard to get and how good it might be.

"Worlds Beyond" is an excellent book with a lot of really devious effects. It's a selection of material from Curry's original books (and magazine contributions) which seem to be equally difficult to find. "Paul Curry Presents" turns up occasionally, but it took me years to find a copy of "Special Effects". If you can find PCP you'll have a good sampling of Curry's work, and there are also some great tricks in the original books that are not included in "Worlds Beyond".

Unfortunately, a financial disaster is going to force me to put my copy of Worlds Beyond on eBay in the next day or two, along with whatever else I can bring myself to part with. If your interested check out the auctions listed by nix225. I should everything up by Wed 12/21.

I've heard that it is one of the best book in circulation.
But on ebay and on the internet it's always absent.
So it is not about its price.
It is not a collectible book with a lot of valut..
but a great book very hard to find.
Do you know some sites which sell rare and very hard to find magic books?

If you read French there's a compilation called "The Very Best of Paul Curry":

It doesn't include everything, but it's a good sampling.

I have Paul Curry's books that were mentioned and find his work really fascinating. Many of his effects rely more on sublety then sleight of hand.
I wrote him a letter years ago and purchased an effect he was distributing called "The Wildest of The Wild" which is a wild card effect where the backs change instead of the faces. I asked Mr. Curry if he would include an autographed business card with my order. When I received the order there was note inside that said "Sorry I do not use business cards will this do?" It was signed Paul Curry.
So as stated above if you can find any of his books, get them

I saw the book Worlds Beyond was posted on ebay.
How do you think it will be a right price for it?
