Question: Pure Effect by Derren Brown editions

Postby Mr. Motte » January 14th, 2006, 1:47 pm

Hello all -
We ahve a spiral bound copy of Brown's Pure effect, but it has no publisher or date listed. I see there is a current edition in hardcover, and this item has the same picture on its cover. It also has 182 p. with an additional page advertising his caricature work with 6 full color examples.

Would this be the first edition? I believe the latest is the 3rd.

Many thanks in advance,
Gene Alloway

Gene, that does sound like a true first edition. I believe the first edition, self-published by Derren, includes one or two sections that were withheld from the later editions (I have never had a first edition to check!). Can you list the contents so I can compare it with our current edition? You should do well with this on eBay if it does indeed include the excised material. We get requests for it all the time! Never had one (I'm guessing he only printed 100 or so...)

Gene, thanks for taking the trouble to list the contents. I've checked against the current edition and the two items that are only in the first edition are "Lift" and "Remniscence." You should do very well with this on eBay, should you chose to list it there. Good luck!

Thank you very much sir. This is the second time I have posted a question here, and in both cases folks have been friendly, thorough, and accurate. I definately owe you a solid.

Best,
Gene Alloway

P.S. and it's signed by Brown to Marcello Truzzi to boot :)
