On the Genii forum cardsharp99 provides information indicating that they are located in the U.S.A.

PayPal indicates that cardsharp99 is a NON-U.S.A. member.

cardsharp99@yahoo.com uses the name Peter Lane. This is not the name listed with PayPal.

I've asked him who he is and he has identified himself as Peter Lane, however he lives in Malaysia.
So, caveat emptor!

okay,, this is a big BEWARE
I tried to buy something from him last week, but I was a bit suspicious, since he had just signed up on Genii forum that same week, and he listed himself as a USA resident, he also had just signed up on PayPal, that same week, at that time they listed him as a USA member, but unverified address, so after several emails, where I continuously asked him for his contact info, since he would only accept Paypal, but he repeatedly refused to identify what his name was, or his address, or phone number. Finally he told me in the last email that he lived in the UK, and he signed his email finally with just a first name of "Bill"

Think its time to clear the air a little.

Firstly I am a verified non-us member for all those who have made purchases should know that.

I am in the process of cosolidating all purchases and shipping them out by this week.

They should reach latest 2 wks via airmail.
If you guys do not get your packages by then, you can go ahead and file complaints.

I identified myself to all those who made payment as well as addresses for those who requested.

I have not avoided any emails whatsoever. The reason I have to sell my stuff Methas is I need it the money to cope with an investment problem.

Hope this helps.

I sent an email to cardsharp99 on August 20, right after his first and only post, regarding the Dean's Box. I asked for his name, address and phone number. He replied his name was Peter Lane, an American currently living in Nothingham, England. He declined to give his complete address, as well as his phone number. He also insisted on being paid through PayPal, as he did in his following two emails. He also refused to insure the parcel. I did send him a picture of the notable Peter Lane with a group of friends. He told me he was not in the picture I sent. I asked him to ship first. He refused, and later on he emailed me that the Dean's Box was already sold.

Some of his emails were sent between 4:30 and 5:30 AM (United Kingdom's time)! His emails came through a server located in California, or a nearby state.

Beware!

I too responded to his first ad inquiring about the Porper Strong Box. He offered me a great price (lower than advertised originally) and was about to pay through paypal when I noticed that he was "non-US" with only one paypal transaction. I quickly backed out. I asked him about this and he told me he was in Malaysia and gave me his address. Don't know if it's a good address or not based on the above postings, but am glad I didn't go through with the transaction!

When you have a seller outside the US who claims to live in different countries depending upon who he talks to, I would say this:
IF YOU GIVE THIS GUY ANY MONEY YOU'RE NUTS!!!!

Wow! when you have Richard Kaufman posting to tell you that you shouldn't have given somebody any money than its really easy to feel like a fool. Well, having just sent you money on Friday Mr. Cardsharp I certainly hope that you're going to prove the doubters wrong. Heck, I believe in you!- though honestly I don't have much of a choice.

Everyone else can expect to hear from me again when the package I'm awaiting either does, or doesn't arrive.

Has anyone EVER heard anything like that from a seller ??

Whos mentioned anything about filing complaints.

The reason a buyer has to file a complaint is when seller stops all comunications and does not send a refund.

I hope we are all wrong about you and the buyers get all the stuff at the right time.

Look, please understand that I hope everyone gets everything they've ordered.
But when you have a seller who has just registered with PayPal, and tells one guy he lives in Britain and another he lives in Malaysia--that's when your antennae should go up.
So, if you guys get what you order, please post here and let us know. And if you don't, then let us know that, too.

As odd as this all sounds, I would recommend giving him an opportunity to fulfill his end before going off on him. You could easily turn this into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I offered to buy some of CardSharps DVD's if he would let me pay him after I received the items. I pointed out my perfect eBay feedback was a better piece of evidence than his unknown status. He never wrote back. I'll be staying clear of this guy.

I, for one, trust the guy. Let's cut him some slack before we crucify him. English obviously is not his first language, but that's OK. He said he would send his stuff out in 2 weeks...let's hold off the troops until then. If he doesn't deliver......hunt him down!

And I'd say that if you recently started posting anonymously at the Genii Forum, your advice doesn't carry much weight. Why should someone with money at stake in a very sketchy situation take your advice?

Get off your high horse, Steve....just because I joined recently, doesn't mean my opinion doesn't matter. I didn't know you need 500 posts to be able to think in a civilized manner. My name is Aaron Timmerman, I live in Minneapolis. I have posted my name in several of my previous posts. I guess I missed the rule that says posting with a nickname makes you a worthless poster. Thanks for pointing that out!

My point is that the guy hasn't even failed on his promise to deliver...yet. Just give the guy a fair chance to honor his sales. If he doesn't, then by all means hunt him down. If you don't feel comfortable with him, don't send him money.

Can anyone tell me exactly what comes with "Silent Treatment"? What I received from this guy was a DVD-R wrapped in a piece of paper with "Silent Treatment" hand written on it. No props, no booklet and no package.

From magicweek.co.uk:

"The materials provided are clean and well made. You get a series of "boards" with engaging "patter" printed onto them in a charming, conversational style. No hokum here...worry not! The printing is clear and of very nice quality indeed. The "boards" are laminated paper/card stock and heavy plastic covers are included all held together with elasticated chord. This essential "booklet/folder" should last for years.

A DVD is provided as the source of instruction and outlines Jon Allen's routine and technique in meticulous detail. No stone is left unturned..."

A few months ago, this person tried to purchase a book from me via the Magic Cafe and the deal wound up falling through, and I gave him a refund. He goes by the name "exohordon" on the Magic Cafe, so you can look up his posts there(he has quite a few). He has also sold and bought a few things on that forum as well, so you might see if someone over there has gotten their stuff or was ripped off. I also have a physical address in Singapore and I think maybe a telephone number though I will have to look.

Okay, as expected this schmuck is a crook.
Spread the word.
I've locked him out of the Forum.
If anyone spots him on here again under a different name, please let me or Dustin know IMMEDIATELY.
Sorry to all those who got ripped off.
In the future, I would suggest being very careful about using PayPal to pay someone unless it's coming from a credit card--your credit card company is only your only ally here.
On eBay, I often rely on the feedback of a seller to determine whether or not to complete a transaction.
