Bro. Hamman News

Postby Geno Munari » April 26th, 2003, 10:15 am

I want to give an update on the Bro. Hamman multiple DVD set.

Just about everything is finished on the video, and we are now authoring DVD menus. There is at least 10 hours plus, probably more. The set will be unprecedented in my humble opinion. Bro. Hamman performs and explains 97 effects. This will be the offer of a lifetime for only $39.95. Why so inexpensive you say? Simple, for a few reasons.

1) Give magicians a real bargain.
2) This incredible value will discourage pirate copies.
3) Bro. Hamman should be seen by all close-up workers and this price won't hold them back. I am sure other producers would have released each DVD for $29.95 each. This would have cost a bundle which the average Joe could not afford.
4. After seeing Bro. Hamman's DVDs you will want a copy of his book that is out of print. Maybe it will be reprinted soon?

5) And finally,it gives me pleasure to give back to the magic fraternity and preserve magical history forever.

Thanks so much Geno! I just recently purchased a used copy of Hamman's book. What a goldmine! The thought of seeing him perform and explain his routines will turn his book into the ultimate set of lecture notes. I can't wait.

I would prefer that a book I spent several years writing and illustrating, and is one of the best-selling magic books of the late 1980s and 1990s, is not thought of as "lecture notes."

Richard!
Are you serious??? "I would prefer that a book I spent several years writing and illustrating, and is one of the best-selling magic books of the late 1980s and 1990s, is not thought of as "lecture notes."
Surely you can't be insulted or feel harmed in some way from what Glen has posted here?!?! The man refers to "YOUR" book as "a Goldmine".He did not say that the book you wrote was a set of lecture notes he said,"...will turn his book into the ultimate set of lecture notes". Obviously meaning that the book along with the DVD will make the book that much better.
Why would you post such a comment sir???

Geno, I will drop a check in the mail today! I'm really looking forward to viewing the Hamman DVDs. What is the status of the Skinner DVD's (volumes 1 & 2)? I know that volume 3 is out and was just wondering about the other two.

Richard,

What a gross misunderstanding! Thank you Jeffyz for eloquently stating what I was attempting to write. Richard...the Hamman book is amazing. I meant no offense to your work.

Please re-read Jeffyz post.

The first two Michael Skinner DVDs were released some time ago. Check Geno Munari's Houdini Magic site for details (do a search on "Skinner"). They are fantastic.

Although my colleague Joe M. Turner will be reviewing Volume 3, I got a sneak preview and the video is spectacular (in my opinion, naturally).

I am very much looking forward to the Bro. Hamman material as well.

Geno is to be congratulated and thanked for making this material available to the magic community.

I think there is some minor confusion. Michael Skinner Vol.1 and Vol. 2 were released as VHS, not DVD. Vol. 3 will be a two-volume DVD. I agree that Vol. 1 and 2 were fantastic and am really looking forward to Vol. 3.

Shortly after the tapes were released, Geno indicated that they would also be released on DVD. I've put off buying them because I'm waiting for the DVD's. So Geno, can you enlighten us?

This is wonderful news Geno, this is top flight material from a great mind. I was in the audience
here in Wichita when Bro. John did a taping at KAKE studios for Papa Stevens. I logged the date in the front cover of "The Secrets of Brother John Hamman" as Jan. 24th 1990. This day blew me away watching Bro. John. I would encourage those interested in cards to work up the "The Invisible Card" page 150, a wonderful routine one will use for a lifetime.
Again thanks in advance Geno for this great treat.

Take care all.

Geno,
Will this be available only directly from you or will it be available through usual retail channels?
