Rainbow Deck - Commemerative Edition - Assembled from USPCC Fresh Decks

Postby David O » October 10th, 2012, 10:06 pm

Greetings Fellow Magii !!!

I apologize for my poor spelling above, but having just returned from the Genii 75th Bash, I thought that the above spelling would be more than appropriate.

For many years I have collected decks. Some from the Magic Shop, some directly from Van at USPCC, some from EBAY, some from playing card auctions, some as gifts, some from the designers of the decks themselves.

It occurred to me some years ago, that perhaps, at some point, I would be able to create soometing interesting from my playing card collection/accumulation.

I soon realized that a really cool white-bordered Rainbow Deck would be a distinct possibility. Thinking about this more seriously for the past several years, and even more intensely over the past several months, I finally, over the last two weeks, pulled out all of the decks of playing cards that I have acquired from around the world. I realized that I may have enough different USPCC Bicycle, Bee, Texan, Steamboat, Blaine, CARC, HOPC, Theory 11, Ellusionist, etc., decks to create a RAINBOW deck that had (almost-SEE BELOW) perfectly matched faces.

Spending untold hours, and pressing my family into a type of temporary, indentured servitude, I believe that we suceeded in creating a pretty darn good deck.

The "almost" above relates to the fact that some of the Aces of Spades are not the traditional "Bicycle" AS . Some are more stylized, some are less, just depending on the design of the original deck that they came from. They are not noticeable during a ribbon spread, unless they happens to be at the face of the deck. If that is sometning that bothers you, a red backed Bicycle AS, can be substituted, and may be preferable to some, since that will give you 2 red backed Bicycle cards to use with your favorite Rainbow deck routine.

All decks are packaged in a brand new red Bicycle card box. The boxes are the result of a ridiculous purchase I made a number of years ago, thinking that I would use these 144 boxes, to make all sorts of shrinking card boxes, switching card boxes, etc. Well, I guess it's not so ridiculous now, since each of my Rainbow Decks comes in a sealed in a new red Bicycle card box with a red Bicycle card sitting on top of each deck when it is opened.

The borders of the deck are all white and uniform. The faces of the cards are completely normal. All of the red pips are matching bright red, no darker shades as found on some of the Conjuring Arts produced decks.

The backrounds of the cards are all white, no off-white or faded tones.

Each decks was assembled from orignally sealed, fresh decks of USPCC playing cards. 52 different decks! I woud be more than happy to forward a list and photo of all of the decks that were used in this limited edition run.

Speaking of limited edition, and my use of the word "Commemerative" above, my original intention was to bring 45 of these decks to the Genii Bash, show them around during all the "free time" that I would have, and hopefully sell a few :-)

Little did I realize that there was almost NO FREE TIME during the Bash. Not that I am complaining, mind you. I heard from several attendees, and I agree, that Richard's BASH was one of the best magic conferences, we have ever attended.

I did show them around a little bit, and received some very positive feedback on the decks. In fact, several people mentioned to me that someone had recently posted a listing for hand assembled Rainbow Decks on the Genii Board, not too long ago. After doing a bit of research, I see that they were offered earlier this year in April, and sold out relatively quickly.

These decks will be priced identically, at $40 per deck, plus $5.00 to cover domestic shipping and handling.

The only method of payment I will be able to accept is through PAYPAL, and my PAYPAL e-mail address is:

I got to see one of David's decks, and they are quite nice. Short of USPCC printing up a deck, you couldn't do any better.

(And David -- it was nice to make your acquaintance.)

Thank you Bill. It is always a pleasure to put a face to a name, and meeting you was no exception.

Who knew you could have so much fun with a Champagne bottle cork restraint?
I look forward to the next time. (Keep your minds focused on magic folks! In this specific case, a fine optical illusion ;-)

BTW, I am now including a red backed Bike AS with each deck, just because it seems like a good idea. (Thanks for the suggestion Steven!)

Re: Rainbow Deck - Commemerative Edition - Assembled from US

Postby David O » October 20th, 2014, 11:45 am

I hope everyone is having a great day!!!

My birthday is in 4 days, and I still have a few of these decks sitting around from 2 years ago.

In honor of my birthday (sounds silly doesn't it?...and this really has nothing to do with my birthday).

Actually, I recently returned from the Buffalo Get-together, featuring incredible lectures by Chris Mayhew and Gabi Peraris, where I found new homes for some of them. In fact, Gabi is a proud new owner of several of them!

So... in any case, I am reducing the price on the remaining decks to $25, which includes postage. This is a fanastic deal in comparison to the USPC printed version, which pales in comparison (pun sort of intended).

They are available on E-Bay (You can go there if you would like to see pictures)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/US-Playing-Card ... 506712117?,

...or you can just PAYPAL me directly at lemagico@yahoo.com

Thanks for your time an attention.

In case you checked EBAY and there were no decks left, I just put 7 more up on the page, but it now has a different URL:

I apologize for any confusion.

Good Morning!

Thank you very much to those of you that purchased one or more of my Rainbow Decks

Your feedback and reviews posted here will hopefully assist in encouraging others to purchase the remaining 10 decks I have for sale. Yes, I started with 52, two years ago!

Thanks again

Can you post a list of the decks you used? Or include it with my ebay order?

I'm glad you had a few more, and I was able to get one. Several times since the Genii Bash I've thought that I should have picked one up then.

It has come to my attention that some of the decks recently purchased and sent out may be missing the extra red backed bicycle card, AS, as should be included with each deck.

If this is the case with your deck(s), please let me know and i will get your AS to you ASAP.

I apologize for any surprise or inconvenience.

I received my deck and it is very nice. All the faces match in color and design; all the cards are the same color stock; all have white borders; and all are the same size.

Other hand assembled rainbow decks I've seen come up short in these areas, and always have a few cards that stand out from the rest. This one doesn't.

Thank you very much to everyone that purchased a Rainbow deck - Edition 1 - 2012.

WE ARE OFFICIALLY SOLD OUT! :-)

I will be making a second and possibly a 3rd edition available.

Each subsequent edition will be nothing like the previous edition.

The second edition will be standard white USPC faces and Bee Stock, including decks such as:

Dan and Dave

David Blaine

Conjuring Arts

Some Casino Decks (Wynn, for example)

Some even rarer and more unusual back designs

The third edition would be a Black and White "Rainbow Deck"

How can you have a black and white Rainbow Deck?

The plan is to utilize 52 different
black decks.

All the back designs
would be different and have black
borders, as opposed to the
traditional white borders (Think of
Guardians and Ghost Decks, for
example).

The face background is black,
matching the black borders, and
obviously, there are no black pips.

I am not sure if there would be a demand for the B&W Rainbow Deck, so if you think it would be of interest to you, please PM me, or reply to this thread.

Again, thank you for your interest and support!!!

I would definitely go for a b/w version.
