Hi, everyone:
Go to YouTube watch our complete version of Festival of Magic from 1957: http://youtu.be/6n862JxiN0k
A holiday gift for Genii readers from Bill McIlhany, Todd Karr, and The Miracle Factory!
(Okay, not just for Genii readers, but you're the first to hear.)
Festival of Magic is a unique record of some of the world's greatest magicians. This original transfer was made by William H. McIlhany from a 16mm kinescope belonging to Milbourne Christopher, then his wife Maurine. You'll see host Ernie Kovacs with Li King Si, Sorcar, René Septembre, Milbourne Christopher, June Merlin, Cardini, and more, with the original introductory clips included. This was originally a $35 DVD, now offered to you free of charge to enjoy.
(Anyone who bought our original DVD and feels this is a lousy deal should write me at toddkarr@aol.com...I'll send you $35 of free ebooks of your choice and a nice email, too.)
This will be a great holiday video to watch with loved ones for a fun hour.

Todd, thanks so much for posting this! Is it missing some sections? For example, Christopher alludes to a Kellar letter to Houdini that had been shown earlier, but I couldn't find it. Also, do you know if the sound registration being slightly out of sync is a vestige of the filming process? (Does anyone know if the copy at the Museum of Broadcasting in NYC is similarly out of sync? Been more than 30 years since I went there to watch it to see Cardini...).

Does anyone know more about Li King Si? It is pretty apparent that neither he nor his assistant were Asian. MagicPedia lists him as Parisian Edouard (Georges) Cassel born in 1906...

At first glance I didn't know if Harold Rice was behind the act (Li King Si is awfully close to Silk King...)
I presume he has passed away at this point (he would be around 107 years old today)...
