Unpublished pic of Houdini in Hollywood

Postby JohnCox » February 13th, 2011, 10:31 am

The mighty Arthur Moses has allowed me to share this terrific unpublished pic of Houdini on a movie set in H O L L Y W O O D. This one will be of interest to Houdini fans and movie buffs alike. But why is Houdini in a bathing suit?

The picture, though grainy, looks like it was taken on a bridge. Perhaps Houdini was doing a bridge jump or other such publicity stunt?

Maybe. But we're pretty certain that's the backlot of Famous Players Lasky studios, which back then was at Vine and Selma in Hollywood. But, yes, maybe he was being photographed doing some sort of a "bridge jump" into that pool back there. I really think he's in makeup because he's doing publicity photos. This is just one of the photos. Meeting his fellow Lasky players.

Wow, Donald Crisp with dark hair!

Like trying to find a photo of a young Walter Brennen.

Glad you appreciate that, Diego. Yes, the fact that this is Donald Crisp in this photo makes this even more special.
