Does anyone know who was the originator of Diamond Jack?

Not a trick, but a story ( of Diamond Jack of course)using each card of the deck, once only, to tell the story.
He marries the Queen of Hearts (QH) and ends with "......two hearts (2H) beating as one (AH)

000 - are you asking about the use of playing cards as a narrative oracle or that particular story which frames the use of flow of time/dealing of cards?

It's by Herman L Weber, and advertised in the 1926 Sphinx,( how much I wonder? )and reprinted in Jean Hugard's Encyclopedia of Card Tricks, 1937.

Okay, still inside the frame.
Lucky Lady (QC), Jack Diamond (JD), That Darn Cat (AS), the missing jewels (10D), the one that got away (AH)... make pretty good student level exercises in storytelling/false shuffle/dealing procedures.

If you blow the frame away- (think stop trick) -you can work on the skills needed for "the trick with non explaination" without the heat by copping the selection early and going adlib from there.

Anyone got one such they care to share using the four way forcing pack (the one usually used in the five star prediction) ?

FYI.. Mr. Weber went by the stage name of NAMREH which was Herman backwards.

Why is "Silas and The Slickers" listed as a version of the story deck in that link? It's a version of Gambler v. Magician.

It will be noted that the plot of the trick is the same as that in the trick "Magician versus Gambler" in my Annual for 1937. The presentation, however, makes the trick a new one and in the hands of a performer who can deliver the lines effectively a better card feat is hard to imagine.
