I am doing a magic history lecture/presentation

do a lecture based on the theme of China and have
been granted the opportunity to talk about one of
China's Magic Gems...

My father.

Along with my personal experiences growing up in a
bi-cultural family.

This is for the general public not meant just for magicians.

I'm super excited about this.
And I think the way I'll be doing this will peak everyone's
attention.

I've basically have my outline and will include many of
the things he's known for and not realized he has contributed
to the art of magic. A lot of it was covered in the 2004
MAGIC magazine article. (I learned a lot of stuff that afternoon
during that 6 six interview between my mom and dad, mark
and marshall...unforgettable).

Also, I've recently sent a consideration to The Magic Castle
for him to receive a Honorary Lifetime Membership.

Utilizing many of the things in my outline and other stuff
as to why he should ...

Two things to note:

1. The lecture about father will be on Sunday June 20th at 7pm
in Vernon Hills, Illinois. Not sure if it will be open to the public or per private/invite only.

It will be perfect since it is father's day.
He will also be performing.

2. We have submitted materials for an upcoming museum exhibit
on the History of Magic in Chicago that will be at the historical
museum in Elmhurst,Illinois. Currated by the amazing Neil Tobin,
aka necromancer.

Gala opening of this will be Sunday June 27.

I was asked to do a lecture/presentation a couple months back
about my father. It is a private presentation not for magicians
but I've been told I can invite up to 10 people from the public to attend.

The presentation will be on Sunday, June 20th @ 7pm in Vernon Hills,IL.
(Yes it is father's day).

I will be talking about his life from his early childhood to his contribution to the art and history of magic. Along with showing rare photos and videos.

I promise it to be fun and interesting.

He will also be there.

Since this is mainly a presentation on history for the general public I will not be talking about any mechnaics or 'secrets' of illusions he has built over the past 60 years and the improvements he has made.

This is an informative view on an entertainer who has traveled throughout the world with his solo and family act. and those he has helped throughout the years. The friendships he a made and built as well.

i took some of my dad's apparatuses to perform tonight.

the biggest smile is when i came out with three
of them to perform.

I've done small lectures (while exhibiting a variety of classic magic ephemera and paraphernalia), which have been well received at Shopping Malls a couple of decades ago.

When I acted as Marie Blood's agent, we were generally able to create a fair-sized crowd with my magic business partner Lyle Brite (he an accomplished escape artist) and I performing, and Marie speaking about her uncle Harry and Aunt Bess.

Most of the crowds for the latter presentations were older folks (aged 60 and up) who either recalled Houdini or heard their families talking about Houdini during their early lives. The rest of the people we drew were, of course, local magicians.

It's extremely encouraging, now that the "big" shows have, by and large, hit their collective peak, with the public beginning to lose interest (all things do appear to work in cycles in this regard), that people interested in the diversity of performance art for art's sake are now stepping into the "fan" spots.

I applaud you and your father not just for your current efforts, but for your role in shaping magic, and entertainment, history.

Here's hoping many more opportunities arise.
