I am not sure if this is the correct name of the routine, but I have heard several people refer to it as such. I am interested in the origins of the routine where the magician places a special tux jacket on a volunteer. A jacket that has the back removed enabling the magician to stand behind the spectator insert his arm and perform the magic. I have seen several ads for the trick and have seen a number of people perform the routine. Who invented the routine?

As a door to further enquiries I suggest to look at Martin Gardner "Encyclopedia of Impromptu Magic, 1978, p.82: "The Midget standing on the table." There you find a reference to Prof. Hoffmann "Drawing Room Amusements", 1879, p. 165.
