There are many downsides to being famous for being "famous" and it seems as though certain celebrities are able to arouse the cheers of fans and the ire of detractors in almost equal measure. The important thing is to get "press" and publicity. Blaine hits many nerves and gets tons of publicity. How many other magicians are incorporated in satirical skits, celebrated cartoon series (South Park), and other weird sources and outlets?
The MTV Generation now giggles at James Bond, shrugs at the Terminator and Rambo, but swoons at Vin Diesel, star of the soon to be release "XXX."
Blaine could be Vin's cousin, "da guy that works da streets" and hooks up with the hottie chicks.
