that's good.

are you using a cane to help with you balance?

no one ever said where your clot was.
was it Left CVA or Right CVA?

NO CANE.. What's CVA? MY left side was affected only slightly. People look at me and say it doesn't look like anything is wrong.

Only real difficulty is in swallowing (need to be careful).

Hey Pete,
Good to see you back here where you belong. No cane? Really seems like you're doing great. I've had a few people close to me suffer a stroke, including my mom when I was 10, so I know firsthand how scary it can be.
Keep up the good work.

Just heard about this. Glad you dodged a bullet! My mother has dodged a couple herself. I'm sure the rehab will go great.

See you at Dean's....

CVA is "Cebral Vascular Accident"

a Right CVA is when the clot or hemmorage is on the Right side of the brain and your left side is
affected.

a Left CVA is when the clot or hemmorage is on the Left side of the brain and your right side is affected.

People don't take stroke seriously unlike other
illnesses and they think you're just OK. But
neurological injuries are much more complicated.

You can't take a treatment and just rid of it and
the possibilites of another occurance can increase
50% within the first year. The road is a long and difficult one.

How is your balancing?
Do you have a drop foot?
Any ankle stabalizer or AFO?

If your swallowing is affected that is not uncommon.

Are you on a thickener?

My dad didn't have to be on one. the reflex between the wind pipe and esophogus was affected. So instead of thickener, he ate and drank by the spoonful to help strengthen his chewing muscles.

He even had to relearn how to breath properly
because he'd get out breath, since his left lung
was weakened by the stroke and diaphram.

Imagine hearing say "Fuzzy wuzzy was a bear..." out of breath.

Just remember to chew good and evenly and keep your chin down when you swallow.

And do your OOOO---EEEE exercises because we
DON'T WANT TO SEE A CROOKED SMILE.

I say, ask for kisses every chance you get.
Those are great mouth exercises.

You have a test in 3 months.

THANKS TO ALL... :genii:

Funny, nobody ever said, "you look great" BEFORE I HAD THE STROKE. :D

The photo shoot I had at the Conf was a portrait of Charles Reynolds (who is also recovering from a recent stroke!!!). :)

Again, thanks, and any of you at the Conf. figured out the Hooker secret, send me a private message.... :D

On Sat. at the LA Conference, I was chatting with Pete just before going into see the Hooker Card Rise, I commented on how good he was looking (we are about the same age) and he "mentioned" he had a stroke a couple of weeks ago! I almost had a stroke myself, as I had no idea of his sudden ride in the ambulance so recently! He really did look good and we both survived Hooker! Keep healthy Pete, it was truly good to see you again! Don Wilson
