Paul Wilson's new TV show, "Takedown"
Paul Wilson's new TV show, "Takedown"
Shades of "Shade"...
Just saw the first ad.
The first episode (on Court TV network) is Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 10:30pm.
The premise: Wilson and his team have been sanctioned by the establishments they are taking down, working from the inside, testing everything and everyone including casino dealers, slot machines, surveillance cameras, forgery detectors and more. And in each case, the owner is the only one in on the scam the on-duty staff is clueless. [from the Court TV website]

Do you have a US VCR? (I'm guessing an obvious yes, but it's worth asking.)

Jason England will be part of the series as well. I was trying to sleep last night when the commercial ran (my wife is a Cops fan) and I heard the name Paul Wilson and gambling and that made me grab my glasses to see if it was that Paul, I'm really looking forward to it.

Jason England's bio contains this ...
England is one of the worlds best trick dealers and can deal from the middle of the deck with no one noticing. He also uses that acumen to earn a neat sum at the poker table "With the recent poker explosion in this country, the pickings have been especially easy" Paul says.
Jason, shame on you!
(And I believe the worlds best trick dealer is Hank Lee. He sells a ton of them).

I saw last nights show. Really good! The guy they took down was a real character. Nice job by Wilson and team.

Re: Paul Wilson's new TV show, "Takedown"
The second show was much better than the first. It's a shame that the network forces them to film "bumpers" (these are for the boneheads who flip channels and might have just tuned in during the middle of the show) that are SO damn repetitious. I can't stand to hear the same narration repeated numerous times--I graduated from grade school long ago.

As a former drunken pool for beer player I loved the show last night. Next week is black jack cheating! Can't wait!

Re: Paul Wilson's new TV show, "Takedown"
Paul Wilson appeared on this morning's Today Show giving tips on how to protect your valuables while on vacation. They also mentioned The Takedown. It was a very informative 5 minute interview during the last hour of the show.

Of course all the cues were made by Joe Porper! :)
Stay tooned.

By any chance, did anyone record the Scorpion Sting??
Re: Paul Wilson's new TV show, "Takedown"
One thing I thought odd about the pool room episode was that they were there to take down a hustler. But to do so, they had to hustle other players to build a stake. Two wrongs make a right???
Couldn't the production company have staked them the money outright?

Re: Paul Wilson's new TV show, "Takedown"
A couple thoughts on that. One is they had to establish themselves as winning money, who knows who was there with a phone ready to call the target? The production company could have fronted them the money but that wouldn't have been as good TV. I did wonder the same as you did about it and actually if they gave the money back to those that lost it after the game, except for the target who deserved an arse kicking as well as losing money.
I watched the painting theft one (I'm so proud they stole it the way I was thinking would be best). The thing that struck me as really odd and what should have caused the guards to flip out was clean cut caucasian servers. In LA? Please....wouldn't have happened.

Is it too early in the season to know of this will be picked up for a second season?
