Sad news today. My friend Joel Miller, who has one of the finest collections of antique magic sets and books in the United States died yesterday from cancer. He had been bravely battling lung cancer for several years, and always remained upbeat.
He was the first collector of magic sets I met in 1988: the closets of his apartment in New York were filled with them. He taught me a great deal about magic sets, and he took great care in restoring his sets.
He will be missed.

Sad news, indeed.
We seem to lose colleagues in clusters.
Marcello Truzzi, one of the better, feverish researchers and commentators on things psychic, weird, and so on also just passed on To Other Things.
Finally I can easily agree with the bromide, "It's later than we think..."
So...
Onward...
Pronto...

The funeral will be at the Frank Campbell Funeral Home in Manhattan on Wednesday, Feb 5, 2003 at 1:30 PM.
Joel was as nice a guy as you could meet and he will be sorely missed.
