The Award-Winning Magic of John Cornelius is not yet in print... It is, however, completed and waiting to be sent to the printer (was finished back in June). For some unknown reason, L & L Publishing has shelved this book and will not be releasing it until the spring (if then)...

I just wanted to let you know so you wouldn't be wondering why you haven't seen this one at the magic shops...

You are in for a big treat though!

Honestly, how strong and practical is Thought Transmitter? I'm considering buying one. No salesmen please.

I'm a "card guy," but I carry a Thought Transmitter with me and use it all the time. I think it is a powerful utility item, and especially useful to do a quick, devastating piece of magic in places where taking out a deck of cards would be inappropriate.

Matthew have you ever used thought transmitter with an invisible deck? I was issued a challenge the other day by one of my colleages.He wanted me to do find reveal the reversed card after He wrote it down on a piece of paper.I figured the Thought Transmitter would a good way to achieve this.

Andrew, what's the source of your information? I e-mailed L&L about this book some weeks ago after seeing a similar post on the 'Net. I received a reply stating that they are not publishing it.

Well...

Not sure who you talked to at L&L (email, that is), but...

I designed & composed the book for L&L (as well as contributed one small handling for Marked for Life). I finished the book last May (2001).

Louis Falanga recently mentioned to me that they had just finished the dustjacket and that it is going to press. Ad copy has been written and I believe that this book will be featured in the next issue of "L&L Publishing Presents."

Expect to see the book sometime in late spring...

Sorry for the belated Post. Haven't been to the site in awhile. I saw Andrew Pinard's post about the John Cornelius book. He stated that he "composed" his book. I was just wondering if this book is completley different than the one that Lance Pierce had started several years back. I have personally read the book that Lance started and was disappointed that it never was published. If this is a different book that would be great. Does anyone know what happened to book on John Cornelius that Lance Pierce wrote?

According to the listing at Doug Atkinson's page (see the links in AJP's post), this book was written by Lance Pierce, so I assume it's the same one you're talking about.

To confirm: this is indeed the book that Lance wrote.

As an pseudo-educational aside: "composing" a book is the technical term for doing all the mechanical work, i.e. typesetting. Magic books require much more work than novels in the complexity of the construction due to the profuse use of illustrations with direct correlation to the text. One has to design a book such that when composing each page you can attempt to keep all the pieces in a structure that is meaningful and aids, rather than hinders, the learning process.
