Health Updates

Postby castawaydave » January 27th, 2008, 12:38 pm

(Though it is probably none of my business) I would like to hear how the folks who have had "health issues" in the last months are doing.

How is it going, Mr. Biro? Mr. Maven? Mr. Klause? Mr. Racherbaumer? How's your dad, Mai Ling? Richard recently mentioned some pain issues (sciatica?).
I would like to pass along good vibes.

No doubt many others have things they have dealt with (and) or are dealing with.
Please let everyone know how you're progressing, and if there's anything anyone could do.

2008 should be better than 2007.

Biro's fine.

Racherbaumer's fine.

Maven's fine.

My herniated disc (could be two by now) hurts like hell. My favorite position at the moment is sitting very still. Fortunately, this coincides with the necessities of my job.

Just getting over a hernia myself! A week away from work drove me bonkers but I was able to put in MANY hours of practice, actually read some of my magic books and of course Genii and I re watched several DVD's that had sleights shown that I don't remember seeing in the past!
Hope everyone else is doing well!

Stroke-wise, I'm doing pretty well. Can't walk straight, can't take any aspirin type meds, or drink ANY ALCOHOL... :(

Richard: My Dr. says "Do not sit for more than 20 minutes at a time with those two herniated disks." Sometimes I wear a brace. He said best cure is to WALK every day. wish I did, but rain has been worse than ever here on the Left Coast.
Stay tooned.

Genii would come out once a year if I never sat for more than 20 minutes!

I had my annual physical today. My doctor says I'm fat. And I thought it was just the clothes I've been wearing that made me look that way.

Most doctors can decide on the treatment you need just by feeling your wallet.

No alcohol? Bummer. I'm glad everyone is doing better. It's hell to get old, but it's better than being 6 feet under. At least that's what my 91 year-old mother always says.

Fat? Doctor said that? I think your doctor said "Phat". That's how doctor told my wife that she is overweight. So you're phat! :whack:

I *knew* there was a reason that people keep calling me Dustin at the castle. We've never met, but I assume you are a handsome, handsome fellow!

My standard response has now become "No, I'm not Dustin, but I get that a lot".

Oh yeah: Devastatingly so I might add.

So Mike, just out of curiosity: Did you see Max Maven Thinking in Person: An Evening of Knowing and Not Knowing during its first run (in 2005) at the Steve Allen Theater?

Thanks,
Dustin

I spoke with Roger a couple of weeks ago. One of the fellows who was at Fechter's with him spoke to him last week.

Roger is in good spirits, but he has not turned the corner yet.

Just keep bidding as high as you can afford to for his books.

No, but it's really interesting that you mention that show. My wife and I saw it this last run in October, and 3 people in the audience (including one of my heroes in magic) thought that I was you. It wasn't until Max called on me as an on-stage participant that they realized my name wasn't Dustin:)

You needed to say yes.

Oh well, an unsolved mystery remains so.

Apparently someone believes that they saw me at a specific show during that run: A show I was not at. I know I wasnt at this specific show because a friend of mine was at that show. I thought perhaps you were our mystery man.

Well, if you ever see your twin at the Magic Castle, introduce yourself!

Thanks,
Dustin
