Georgio vs. Magic Castle

Postby Pete Biro » February 8th, 2002, 4:23 pm

just back from a very happy lunch at the magic castle... following from secty of acadamy

GREAT NEWS!!! (Great news, at least for me as it has been a long hard road)

All Academy Members should be happy to hear that after over three years of
depositions, threats, ugliness and preparation and then two weeks in court,
the "Giorgio vs The Academy of Magical Arts BOD" trial is finally over!!!

The Judge DISMISSED entirely all of Mr. Giorgio's charges against each board
member and Milt Larsen. Said "The BOD did nothing wrong in canceling Mr.
Giorgio or any of the other 7 or 8 charges made by him." (Not those exact
words but you get the idea!)

Thanks to all of you who knew that the "might of being right" would win out
in the end and stuck with us.
Bruce Cervon...
:D :) :D :)
Stay tooned.

Pete,

That is incredible news – thanks! I'm glad that it is finally over. GREAT NEWS!

Now the question is, will the entire story – what lead up to the ugliness to begin with – be told? Should it be? Some may think that it's best if the mess is left behind and forgotten about. That was my gut reaction. However, I strongly believe that the whole story should be told. There are lessons – for both sides – to be learned. Also, I believe the incident would be put to rest faster if the whole story were told. Otherwise, the rumor and innuendo factory will churn on for quite a while longer.

Dustin

Though Tony Giorgio may have lost the particular points in his suit, the sworn depositions given during the discovery phase of the trial raise serious issues for members of the Magic Castle about exactly how the board is spending their money.
Personally, I can't see any excuse whatsoever for the board to raise dues!
Anyone who has read John Carney's recent posting on CastleFolk understands the dire situation in which the Magic Castle currently finds itself.
Giorgio's trial is just the prelude.

Did Max win in his bid for the President's office? Or are they letting business as usual continue in the same vein as the IBM?
