Neil Patrick Harris, Vincent D'Onifrio, Woody Allen, Orson Welles and many others, not only acted, but were into magic. And let's not forget Johnny Carson.
I'm sure if you questioned many actors you'll find a bunch that dabbled with magic when they were younger.

Pete - thanks for the mention, but while my degrees were in biology, I was actually in management positions during most of my tenture at the E.P.A. working with regulation of pesticides and toxic substances. I wouldn't call myself the "Director" of the WMS. I am just a member of the Board of Directors as are you. Besides I don't sign the checks ... Rich Bloch and Bob Rossi do that! :)

That's right, "cod" would be a parody, but it's not a widely-used term.

I did hear that John Salisse had bought rights from Lamouret but I did not have that info. substantiated.

I've never heard of JS purchasing the rights to Lamouret's act. I seem to recall reading in an issue of M-U-M (with JS on the cover) that he and a schoolchum "developed" the act together while in their teens. Hmmmm. I'm betting one or both of them saw "European Nights", too...which no doubt "aided" in the development of the act.

Ray Haddad quite corretly added Cary Grant to the list. He did not, however, note that Grant was billed as The Great Carini.
