Richard,
Can you give us some information on how you will writing up Vernon's columns? As they were written ,slightly edited, greatly edited, etc. How big will the book be and when can we expect it? Also, how much can we expect to pay? This project is one that is long over due.......
Thanks,
Gary Plants

Re: The Vernon Touch..............
I am not "writing up" the columns: they will appear as Vernon wrote (or dictated) them.
They will be edited slightly for repetitious material. Things which were incorrect and then corrected the following month will be simply be corrected in their intitial appearance.
I'm thinking of producing the book at 7 by 10 inches so it would fit on the shelf beside The Vernon Chronicles and most of the other Vernon books, which are 6 x 9 or smaller.
It appears that it will be at least 500 pages long and, at that size, it won't be inexpensive.
We also have many rare Vernon photos, a number of which are previously unpublished.
Hope to have it out by the end of this year.

Richard - how is this project going?
Is there an estimated publishing date?
There are a lot of whetted appetites out here!

It's going slowly, but well. The text is so long that the editing process is taking a long long time. We're also adding footnotes to explain some of the things Vernon says, since they're now many decades out of context.

Richard:
Will you be explaining why Vernon was so snarky about Bob French? No one responded to that in the other thread about the old geniis.
Pete Biro:
As I've been reading through the two boxes of old Geniis your column is the most consistent winner among the issues I have read (with apologies to Don Lawton and, I guess, Vernon).

Hey guys, youv'e let the cat out of the bag about the priceless material Pete put on paper for all those years.
Now some are going to think for themselves for a change on their "original" ideas.

Richard,
You can hold off on publishing the collected Magicana. Now that I've begun collecting the original issues, I don't want this goldmine to be easily accessible. ;)

Mr.Kaufman, I was wondering how the project is coming along. I know a project of this magnitude takes time but the anticipation is overwelming. Any information would be great.

Re: The Vernon Touch..............
The Vernon Touch book is coming along. Gary Plants spent a lot of time over the summer working on it, and I am in the process of doing a proofread myself. A lot of footnotes are necessary to augment Vernon's comments, and while Matt Field did a lot of work on them in his edit, there are more to add.
The book is 500 pages long, so it's a big sucker and will take longer than expected to get it right. But, we are definitely getting closer.
