Who can memorize 54 packs of cards?

Postby CHRIS » February 27th, 2005, 6:22 am

Yes, I mean 54 packs of cards, not one pack, not two, no - fiftyfour packs. This guy is Dominic O'Brien and his best selling out of print book has been republished electronically, by ... you all know it by now ... Lybrary.com. Check it out: How to Develop a Perfect Memory

Joe, it means that Dominic O'Brien's system is probably one of the best mnemonic systems in existance. If you want to memorize one deck of cards, or the calendar, or your favorite stack, you might want to take a look at the Dominic System.

Chris, can this help a complete blithering idiot memorize a deck of cards? If so I may have to look into it.

Steve, yes it can. When I read Dominic's system I adopted it and dropped my old method that I picked up from a German book many years ago. Personally I think Dominic's system is the best. It fits me very well and it is very intuitive. But I guess this is also to a good extent an individual preference. It is definitely worth checking out.

Chris,

How long would it take to memorize a shuffled deck with this system?

Thanks

Steve

Dang...I'm going on three years and still have not memorized one cold (I did take long breaks during that period in frustration).

I got Mnemonica in about 2.5 hours, just like Minch and Tamariz promised. Now if I shave off the first 2 hours and 30 minutes I'll be in the game.

I've ben messing around with the system this past weekend. After the initial preparation of deciding on all the mnemonics to use, I memorized a shuffled deck in 7 minutes THE FIRST TIME I TRIED!

If you spend some hours deciding on mnemonic clues that work best for you, it really works. I think almost anyone can do it.

Yes--I had read about it on the magic talk site, then tried it with my own mnemonic images.
