"New" Illusion Controversy

There is an interesting discussion over on The Magic Cafe regarding a "new" illusion.

I'm also interested to hear thoughts if The Genii Forum members feel it is a new illusion or a knock-off. I know what mine are.

Terry, there is a good deal of "monkey see, monkey do" in magic ... for now.
Probably a good time to go out and do magic for regular audiences and leave the market to it's own devices.
I often wonder what compells folks to put stuff into print or sell it. Our market is small. There is much more fame and adulation to be had amongst the muggles. What's left for us here in magicdom is a long haul of vetting material and the long slow process of refining our methods.

I've been following the discussion, and while the guy is a reasonably good animator, I doubt that we will actually ever see very many people make or perform it. Most people that could spend that kind of money on an illusion would just get an original Origami. My 2 worth.
It also kind of reminded me of a bit from the movie "Spinal Tap": "Yes, but this one goes to 11!"

OK, for those of us that missed it, how about a description?
European guy makes an illusion strikingly similar to Origami. Looks kinda neat; he has a slick 3D rendered animation it.
Difference: instead of just folding the box and inserting swords, you'd fold the box, then cut the little box in two (a la any sawing), then two long poles are run through the box along the length of the box, then half the little box is slid down the length of the table along the poles.
New illusion or knock-off: I say neither.

Is the basic design and mechanics different than Origami? Does the additional fussing with the little box make a noticeable difference to the audience?
Sometimes it feels as if someone could offer a Zig-zag where the assistant comes out in a different wig and costume as a "new" illusion.

There's a version of Zig-Zag out there where the assistant vanishes after s/he is zagged (doors are opened in the three compartments).
Is the illusion new? I would say no.
Is the illusion a knock-off? No, not really.
Jonathan put it pretty well:
