Magic Castle Happenings – The Good Stuff (January 2018)

Postby Dustin Stinett » January 2nd, 2018, 12:23 am

Happy Anniversary …

Every January is an anniversary for The Magic Castle, but 2018 is a milestone: 55 years. January 2 is Founders Day, and it kicks off at 3PM with speeches from local dignitaries (including LA Mayor Eric Garcetti) and, of course, members of the Founding Family, the Larsens, including Erika and co-founder Milt. This is a members-only event (members may bring up to three guests).

Workin’ It

Rich Cowley runs the Magicians Workshops, and the next one is on January 9, 8PM in the Peller Theatre. Magician Members only.

Sellin’ It

On January 10 there will be two sales happening simultaneously down in the Inner Circle. The Gift Shop is making room for its new 55th Anniversary stock, so will be having a giant clearance of the old stock. Discounts from 50% and more!

At the same time, the library is clearing out duplicate lecture notes. There are hundreds of sets of notes, many from magicians such as Billy McComb, Dai Vernon, Daryl, Jeff McBride, and more. And many of them are signed as well.

The sales begin at 7:30PM.

Meetin’ em

It’s election season and the candidates for both boards will be gathering for their Meet the Candidates Q&A sessions:

Get Your Gourmet Going

The next gourmet dinner event will be on January 25 and will feature ZD Wines. See the newsletter (page 11) for pricing and other details.

Down Under (in the Basement)

The annual Aussie Day will take place in the Hat & Hare Pub and Lounge. Australian magic, beer, food, and fun, and it all starts at 8:00PM. All members welcome.
