The November Issue of Genii is Now Live Online with David Blaine!
The November issue of Genii, The Conjurors’ Magazine, is now live online with printed copies in the mail. This issue has great columns from John Bannon, Martin Lewis, and Mike Caveney, but is mostly taken up by a 45-page article on the remarkable David Blaine. David has developed a remarkable stage show that hit 40 cities and will go back out on the road in a new iteration sometime early in 2018. I was overwhelmed by the show, and by him, and he agreed to be the subject of our cover story this month if his favorite writer, Jon Racherbaumer, would take on the task. The result is the longest story we’ve done in many years and goes into greater depth on Blaine’s life and way of thinking than any other story done about him. We hope you enjoy this issue, which also contains reviews of tricks, books, and the latest videos.

The Blaine article is fantastic. Surely the most comprehensive article about David, ever. I only wish
I had known that Jon was at the Tucson show so that I could have looked for him. The live show was unlike anything seen before. The Spirit of Houdini lives on.

Hopefully this means the end of that interminable Erdnase thread...

The Erdnase thread will never die. But that is a good line.

It will die if Erdnases's true identity is revealed.

Blaine is holding his breath underwater?
Where can I purchase that effect?

I have no idea who he was but one thing
I am pretty sure of. He never cheated at cards in his life. I am a psychic and can sense these things.

Enjoyed the issue!
I know with the convention, etc., time was super, super short this month, but I always get a kick out of watching "More Genii Speaks" (especially when a cat is involved), and look forward to it's return next month.

Yes, my Genii Speaks video will return in the December issue, quite possibly with a new cat!

Still hoping for Jim Steinmeyer's Unexpected Impuzzibilities , advertised in Genii, to show up on his web site. Expected pub date?

Same here. I don't think that series gets as much cred as it deserves--there are some really strong performance pieces there. Thanks for the info, RK!
(That big ol' ad on the back cover squeezed a whole bunch of money outta me too.)
Re: The November Issue of Genii is Now Live Online with David Blaine!
Richard, a few comments about this month's issue of Genii...
Jon Racherbaumer's article on David Blaine was just plain great. I read it last night before going to bed and will read it again this afternoon because it deserves multiple readings to thoroughly sound its depth. Jon and David's work here deepened my appreciation for the true art and mystery of magic that goes so far beyond mere tricks.
Jon has been prodding my brain cells since 1985, and his writing is better than ever. I've enjoyed David's work since the first time I saw him perform on TV many moons ago.
I also really appreciated the art and layout that accompanied the article.
Thanks to you, Jon, and Elizabeth for the best issue of Genii to date. I put it right up there with my admiration for your mind-blowing David Berglas book.

Yes, Ted, when they gave us hi-res versions of the poster art it was obvious we had to use them.

You can buy the posters at Blaine's web site. The artist is Mark Stutzman.
