361: Terry Herbert - A Right Jolly Old Elf

Postby Scott Wells » June 15th, 2017, 1:12 pm

All the way from London, world renown children's show entertainer and Past President of the British Ring, "The Great Fiasco" (aka Terry Herbert), joins us this week on The Magic Word Podcast. Terry talks about working with children and also his association with some of the top legends of British Magic (Tommy Cooper, Ken Brooke, Ali Bongo and others). We also talk about the differences in venues between the U.S. and the U.K. for performing close-up magic. Terry is also an avid researcher on "The Piddingtons", a two-person mind reading stage and radio act from Australia in the mid-1900's. He chats a little about his research on this famous couple in the podcast, too.

You can watch a clip of Terry performing at The Magic Circle plus a vintage video of The Piddingtons performing on stage, see some photos, read the blog, listen to the podcast online and download the MP3 file at: https://www.themagicwordpodcast.com/sco ... ry-herbert

Congratulations to the winners of last week's contest for a copy of "A Magician Prepares - Act One: Interviews": Fred King, Peter Cook, and Jon Barr. And thank you to the authors, Joshua Stenkamp and Jason Wethington, for donating the prizes.

I remember first seeing Terry do the Cups and Balls on television approximately a hundred years ago or so. I remember it was black and white television anyway. I mentioned to him a couple of years ago and he was astonished I remembered it.
