A non-magic friend sent me this article about a new magic venue in Hollywood.
Does anyone know any more about it?

Appears that they are catering to the "Millennials." Every generation seeks to set itself apart from the preceding generation(s). It is only natural that they feel more comfortable with, and can relate better to, their peers, given their common age and experience. I guess they would view the Castle as "old school." Not necessarily a bad thing - predictable, actually. I would guess it's been going on that way since time immemorial. Good news is that magic seems to continue to flourish in this age...

The interior shots look beautiful. In fact, judging by the various websites, all of the Houston Hospitality clubs look classy and upscale. La Descarga (their pre-Castro Havana-themed club) and Pour Vous (Parisian themed) both have dress codes that require collared shirts, encourage sport coats and don’t allow hoodies (thank god). It all sounds quite civilized and good for magic.

That's what I found ironic about the snarky reference to the Magic Castle in the linked article. From those photos, it appears that 99% of the decor from the new place would fit right in at the Castle.

The snarky references to The Magic Castle come from bad reportage looking to create a fuss where none exists in order to attract attention to the article. A 40-seat open bar/theater is not, and is never going to be, any kind of competition to the Castle.
