340: Gold...Bruce Gold

Last week we spoke with Franz Harary and Rocco in Macau, China through the miracle of the technology age. This week we travel via Skype to Los Angeles where we chat with Bruce Gold who is the talent coordinator of the "House of Magic by Franz Harary". I thought it would be an appropriate follow-up to see what it is that he is looking for in talent to perform in Macau. Bruce talks about this, but first I was interested in a picture of him and Robert Baxt I saw on Facebook that was shot at the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. They were apparently hosting something as they emceed the event. So we talk about that first followed by a few stories about Bruce's participation in the annual Academy Awards event (the Oscars). Frankly, Bruce didn't see what interest something like this discussion would hold to magicians because it is completely unrelated to magic. On the contrary, I found it absolutely fascinating. I don't know anyone else who has such a job or rubs shoulders with the celebrities backstage the way he does.

After our chat, we revisit with Yigal Mesika to talk about how the mediation with Penguin went and the final outcome. As expected, due to non-disclosure, he cannot discuss the details other than to say that everyone is happy with the results. But I put several questions to him that were raised here on the Genii Forum plus a couple questions regarding "bullying" that were posted on the comments section of the podcast #326.

I plan to travel to Las Vegas for a week in February and bring my microphone and laptop so as to interview several local magicians out there.
