Magic Castle Happenings – The Good Stuff (September 2016)

Postby Dustin Stinett » September 1st, 2016, 7:04 pm

Fall is Falling

Officially, fall will not be upon us for a few more weeks still, but The Magic Castle is already gearing up for its favorite—as busiest—time of the year. This year’s Halloween celebration is called “Día de los Muertos” and the Boo Crew has been plotting and planning their surprises for the members and their guests. If you want to partake, it would be wise to make your reservations now.

Don’t Forget Houdini

This is also the busiest time of the year for the Houdini Séance, so make your plans for that as well. Josh Stern—our AMA Spirit Director—can be contacted by email at jstern[at]magiccastle[dot]com or at extension 303.

No Labor on Labor Day

The Magic Castle and the AMA offices will be closed on September 5 in observance of Labor Day.

I’m Bat Man …

Well, no, he’s not … well, kind of. Paul Dini, the man behind The Dark Knight, will be holding an all-members-welcome Perk and book signing on September 7. 8PM in the Inner Circle.

Support the Magic Industrial Complex

The Fall Swap Meet will be held on September 10. Members may enter at 8AM. Guests of members and non-members who are affiliated with the IBM, SAM, or other recognized magic organizations may enter at 9AM with an $8 entry fee.

Football Fans Rejoice

Monday Night Football returns to the Hat & Hare Pub starting on September 12 at 4:10PM and going to 7:20PM (I know that football is rigidly timed and all that, but these exact times seem kinda extreme to me—but, whatever blows your whistle). $10 gets you all you can eat hotdogs, chili, and bottomless soft drinks (gratuity not included). HIKE!

Irene’s 80th

In celebration of what would have been Irene Larsen’s 80th birthday, Jack Goldfinger has booked many of Irene’s favorite acts during the week of September 19. The week will culminate with a members-only night on September 25—her actual birthday. Make your reservations now!

Gettin’ Handsome

Handsome Jack and his cowriter John Lovick will be holding a book signing in the Inner Circle on September 28. One or both of them will be interviewed by Rob Zabrecky. 8PM, open to all members.

Foodie’s Delight

The September member specials are …

Vegetarian: Arugula and Meyer lemon ravioli, sautéed Swiss chard, cherry tomatoes, and Montego cheese.

That's a fine article. Thanks for posting it!

The one future proposal I thought interesting: "classes for children" Great idea--also I liked the plan the Castle to raise it's profile at magic conventions.
