304: Gay Blackstone - First Lady of Magic

Postby Scott Wells » July 21st, 2016, 10:10 am

I know that this moniker isn't original, but in my opinion, Gay Blackstone is the one living person most deserving of this title. She has led such a wonderful, colorful life full of stories and well-deserved accolades and she continually reinvents herself.

In this week's podcast on The Magic Word, Gay talks about her early career as a "Gold Digger" dancer on the Dean Martin television show and how she met Harry Blackstone, Jr. She also shares stories about their summer getaways in Colon, Michigan and brings us up to date on her work producing the "Masters of Illusion" TV and theater tours. Are you interested in joining this troupe? Well, she talks about how you can apply and what they are looking for in new talent.

This podcast is sequentially numbered as 304 because of the daily updates from the I.B.M. convention. But in reality, I wanted it to be the 300th since it was a chat with a V.I.P. and I wanted that milestone marked accordingly with a memorable guest. You can watch some videos, see some photos, read the blog, listen to the podcast online and download the MP3 file at: http://themagicwordpodcast.com/scottwel ... blackstone And as usual, you can listen, subscribe and download the podcast from iTunes, Tunein, Stitcher, and Feedpress, among other popular ways to hear podcasts.

While recording this podcast, we also streamed our chat LIVE using the new feature on Facebook. If you would like to know when we are going live so you can participate and ask questions in real time, then be sure to Like our page at http://facebook.com/themagicwordpodcast

And congratulations to Steve Gallagher, Orlando Ferrer, Chris Stockton and Kevin Kapinos who were the four winners of the DVDs offered by Carl Andrews from last week's drawing. Thanks for listening and thanks for entering the contest. And thanks also to the Friends of The Magic Word whose financial support pays for the shipping of these occasional prizes as well as the many production costs associated with keeping this podcast on the air. Please consider joining them with any donation you can make. Thanks.
