RIP: JC Doty
JC Doty has passed away. He was quite a character, as anyone who had the pleasure of knowing or even just meeting him can tell you. He may be best known for working with Tom Mullica when they were hamming together the Tom-Foolery Magic Bar and Theatre, but even better known as the man who made the iconic neon sign for the establishment. The Genii Forum passes on its condolences to his family and many friends.

When I think of JC Doty, I think of Tenyo's 4 Dimensional Trunk. Tenyo got the rights to use the method from Doty and ran away with it!
Tenyo took the bowling ball from briefcase idea and created a close-up version using a golf ball and a miniature briefcase instead.

Re: RIP: JC Doty
What I remember of Mr. Doty was his sense of humor and the nameplate/badge he wore at the '84 Atlanta Harvest of Magic.
He'd lost a lot of weight...a lot...and thus wore a badge that said, "Yes, I'm Doty".
Wow, the irony of Tom and then Doty passing on within a few weeks of each other...

One of my fondest and funniest memories of the man is hearing him tell a story (at Tom's request) using what he referred to as the L-F language. Hilariolfuks!
