David Ben to Go Hairless (For a Good Cause)
Is there anyone who doesn't think cancer sucks? Is there anyone who can say that their lives have not been touched by this insidious disease, be it a family member, a friend, or even yourself?
David Ben, who lost his wife to it, is supporting the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation via the #NoHairSelfie program. On February 4, 2016, David is going to lop off his iconic hair for this wonderful cause.
He has pledged to raise $250,000, and you can help. Please join me and go to David's NoHairSelfie page and donate what you can. While he is looking for pledges of $100 (or more!), he truly appreciates every dollar you can give.
Thank you!

I'll pledge $250 for Julie to join David.
Re: David Ben to Go Hairless (For a Good Cause)
My apologies to Julie! What the hell was I thinking?
Make that $500.

Re: David Ben to Go Hairless (For a Good Cause)
How about some "awards" for high donor pledges, such as $100 for a strand of David's hair, $1,000 for a lock, $10,000 for the right to choose and cut the lock yourself... Accompanied with a certificate of authenticity of course...

Say, this is curious: If you click on the United States donate link, you see only $2,430 of the $250,000 raised, less than 1% of the goal. But if you click on the Canada link, you find $69,038 CAD raised already, 28% of the goal. I'm guessing this is just how the fundraising site is set up, with the Canada side showing only Canadian donations, and the US side showing only US donors.

I too encourage everyone to support David Ben at http://www.nohairselfie.com/davidben/
As someone about to beat appendix cancer (yeah, I never heard of it either until I was diagnosed last year) into submission, it's awesome to see Mr. Ben standing in solidarity with us cancer patients in this way!

Between the Canadian and US donations, he just passed $150,000. There's just over a week to go. He's so excited, he's doing colour changes
Richard - your suggestion seems to be getting some traction. How many curls can we put you down for?

Yes! I received an email from Magicana today offering a "unique collectable" in exchange for supporting this worthy campaign. The email reads in part:
"But what is the collectible?
Max Maven (who wins our magic hair award any day of the week) has argued that David’s hair may actually be the source of his magical prowess.
So for magic enthusiasts and collectors, we are offering you the chance to own a lock of The Conjuror’s mane. For donations of $1,000 or more, we will send you a lock of detached hair attached to a playing card. (We are joking, of course, but will be happy to provide said locks for any size donation, by mail to those who indicate their desire in the "message to the hairticipant" part of the donation process.) The size of the lock will be proportional to your donation. If you have already donated and would like a collectible, send us a note.
You will also receive a playing card from David’s personal stash from The Conjuror’s Suite, designed by Canadian artist, Pat Lyons, of Ibidem fame. Cards will be signed and numbered by David.
This is your chance to own one of the most unique collectibles in all of magic. So please consider contributing today.
- You can blame or thank Richard Hatch for suggesting this scheme."

I just matched my original donation and look forward to receiving a certified collectible suitable for framing...

He did it! Thank you to everyone who contributed. For those who haven't yet, you still can donate to David's campaign! http://www.nohairselfie.com/davidben for a USA or Canadian tax receipt!

$10.39
THIS is the closest match I could find.
Seriously, if someone has his address I would love to send him one of these.

It's on the website (http://www.magicana.com)
And if anyone missed the boat, we will have extra hair collectibles for those who would still like to make a donation
