No surprise on this one, as the book reads like a screenplay. I like that this story is on its own, rather than tacked on to the end of a large Houdini bio pic.

It's a screenplay disguised as a non fiction history book. I think it's telling that Racherbaumer called it a novel in his December On the Slant column. I gave this book a vote of no confidence and moved on. I work too hard for my money to be a stepping stone to Mr. Jaher's Hollywood career.

reading the book currently. It's a fun read and fascinating content. Much like Erik Larson his style is engaging and pulls you in and along.

Leonard is right about the author's intent, which I wrote in SLANT: "The Witch of Lime Street: Séance, Seduction, and Houdini in the Spirit World (2015) is a book that seems designed to be a future movie with two strong, competing characters, along with a plot that spurts, writhes and is intermittently taser-ed by Jahner’s calculated prose. (He is, by the way, a screenwriter and professional astrologer.)"

It's a good bet that others (plural) will doctor whatever script is first presented.
Who then should be cast as the Witch of Lime Street?
Who for Houdini?

Joe Pesci, back in the day, would have made a great Houdini.

Check out this fascinating article. Having read it, I am excited to read the Witch of Lime Street, and especially to see the screenplay adaptation once it's released. I have a feeling it's going to be a winner.
