Thanks for the heads up about UPS My Choice. I signed up and saw that my book was going to be delivered while I'm out of town. As Chris said, I was able to reroute it to a UPS Store until I can pick it up. No tracking number needed, the system finds the shipment by the delivery address.

It appears that UPS has progressed significantly from where it was back a few years ago when we used to joke that "UPS" stood for "UNABLE to PROVIDE SERVICE."

Standard issue boxed set received last Monday. What a lovely production! Easy to lose many hours perusing it.

Haven't read this thread, so apologies if this question has already been answered. Is the slim 'side pocket' intended to hold the large envelope of tricks and DVDs?

I'm not a Tenyo collector, but find the history of this company fascinating; even more fascinating for me is reading the histories/origins of the tricks. What a cool storehouse of knowledge!

I remember purchasing Tenyo items at the Disneyland Main Street Magic Shop back in the late 60s and early 70s, though at the time I didn't know (or care, really) that they were Tenyo-made (always loved "What's Next?").

Thank you, Richard, for all your hard work and dedication. Yes, you had plenty of help, as you so graciously acknowledged in the book, but still a monumental task. And as the Brits say, "well done, you!"

I sit absolutely stunned. Instant classic.

That's what I like most about RK. You pay your money and he not only delivers, but he exceeds your expectations. (Heck, my expectations are now lying shattered all over the floor in a million pieces!)

It's always easy to tell when a creator puts his heart and soul into his work, and that is clearly on display here.

Bravo, Sir! Bravo!

I take Walt Disney's attitude: exceed customer expectations. This is always my goal. Thanks!

Clay: yes, remove the white piece of styrofoam from the side compartment and slide the black envelope in there.

Hope no one ever expects me to do another book like this! This one 'bout killed me.

Today was the day I finally took one book at a time and did a serious browse and boy am I delghted! I find it extremely difficult to put down! It's downright effervescent!

At this point, I seem to gravitate to the sections on non T numbers stuff and about the creators pages. But it's all a magical mystery tour! Tenyoism is addictive and a sheer joy to schlep.

If you didn't order yours yet, get with the program! It's that good!

The books (in the impressively-engineered packaging) arrived in Raleigh today, three days earlier than I expected and ahead of the 2nd envelope. AND ahead of the rain expected here Tuesday and Wednesday.

Steps 1 and 2 only......and I'm already smiling. Thanks, Richard!

This and a beautiful and healthy new granddaughter...what a week!

Joe, sorry to be picky about your use of words but there is nothing "standard" about the edition that isn't the deluxe edition.

haha! Absolutley right! I just wanted to specify since the deluxe and the, er, non-deluxe editions were sent out at different times.

Also - couple of quick questions for Richard - or anyone else who can answer.

Is the Alan Parsons essay in the book? I didn't see it in the table of contents. I am guessing I overlooked it.

Also - do you think the book on Shigeru Sugawara's magic will ever be translated into English?

Can't wait to give an in depth analysis of the book. But for the next few days I will be limited to random questions and comments.

I finally played one of the DVDs. I chose Volume 3- The Scrapbook. Chock full of great stuff! When it ended, I wanted to immediately play it again but it's quite long and I didn't have enough time.

I don't want to spoil it for anyone so, without revealing its contents, let's just say that you will learn how to use some of your favorite Tenyo tricks all over again! Very cool stuff!

So you have two enormous volumes, four DVDs, and three tricks. That should keep us busy for quite some time to come!

I asked about translating the Shigeru Sugawara book into English.

Well - Richard is one step ahead of me. Since the magic section (at the end of book two) covers a lot of material from the various Tenyo creators who (like Shigeru Sugawara) were awarded the Tenkai prize and who subsequently published a book of their magic.

So - this is all material which has been translated into English for the first time.

I am gonna save this chapter for tomorrow.

Thanks, Richard!

Most of the better material from the Tenkai Prize books by the members of the Tenyo Creative Division is described at the back of volume 2. The Tenkai Prize books have more material, but quite a bit of it are items eventually marketed by Tenyo.

So I went to the Post Office today, and had a couple of packages:

1. From Dan Bradbury, "Sneaky Feats"
2. From Potter & Potter, a package from the most recent auction
3. From Tom Sawyer, his new Erdnase book
4. And finally, a big brown box from some guy named Kaufman

So I have a few books to read over the Christmas holidays

It's the shipping carton that is brown. Insides are a different color, I'm guessing (I haven't opened it yet).

"Brown." I think that's what UPS colloquially refers to itself as. But it's what's inside that counts, and it sounds like a lot of people are absolutely thrilled with their holiday gift to themselves.

The books arrived Monday and the extras arrived Thursday. They were at my doorway when I got home at 12:30am Christmas morning. Can't beat that for a surprise from Santa! I mean, 12:30am? USPS or Santa??

Maybe USPS AND Santa - I understand he may be moonlighting with the USPS (just for the busy Holiday Season). Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to you too, and to all fellow Forum Members!

After hearing about Deluxe editions arriving in Scotland, Hong Kong, Singapore, i received notice this morning from UPS that my copy was on the truck out for delivery with a four hour delivery window of "before end of day." which struck me as odd until I realized they didn't state that the four hours were contiguous.

At 5:45 pm heard a light tap on the door... Lo and behold, my copy had arrived in exotic San Jose, California.

Good thing I have the rest of this week off to enjoy the mighty Tenyoism!

Mine is due to arrive tomorrow. I already dug out all of my Tenyo items (and bought a few more) and stacked everything together, along with the box of deluxe edition extras, in anticipation of arrival.

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!! :)
