The Eli Marks Mysteries

Postby Dustin Stinett » November 27th, 2015, 1:24 pm

Those of you who pay attention to my scribblings know that, for the most part, I prefer not read a lot of fiction. That's because I'm a moron who will not let such pleasurable "distractions" eat into my precious time. Fortunately I have friends and acquaintances who have my back and force me into taking time for such frivolity.

One of those is John Gaspard. He pushed me into reading his three Eli Marks mysteries, The Ambitious Card, The Bullet Catch, and The Miser's Dream. Of course he's biased; he wrote them. The last time I read a "magic oriented" piece of fiction, it resulted in a lot of time I will never get back, so I have to admit that went into this adventure with some pause.

I read all three in less time than it took me to slog through the book noted above, and I am ready for more.

If you have not partaken in the pleasure that is the Eli Marks mysteries, do yourself a favor and go to Amazon and get them now (and read them in order). They are available in Kindle as well as traditional bindings.

For those who need a frame of reference, I would compare them to William Murray's Shifty Lou Anderson mysteries. Yes, I think John's are that good.

Thanks for the push John!

Sounds good, so I just picked up all three Kindle editions for less than $11. Can't beat that.

Thanks for the recommendation, Dustin! I'll dig in tonight...

If you would like to hear from the author, John Gaspard, talk about his first book, “The Ambitious Card”, then you can listen to the podcast at: http://themagicwordpodcast.com/scottwel ... tious-card

We later catch up with John when he talked about the release of his second book in the Eli Marks series, “The Bullet Catch” at: http://themagicwordpodcast.com/scottwel ... llet-catch

Perhaps we should also schedule a third podcast for his latest release, "The Miser's Dream". You can also order the books through the links on The Magic Word Podcast website, too.

Great stuff in these two podcasts, if I do say so myself. Glad you enjoyed it, too, Dustin!
