Checked their website this evening to look up an accessory and saw the notice:

Great. Just when I wanted to order something from them.

Re: Camirand Academy No Longer Retailing
Sorry to hear this. They've released some really good things over the years.
Re: Camirand Academy No Longer Retailing
Very sad...I bought so much great stuff from them over the years including Gary Ouillet's books and videos; Tony Binarelli's book, David Acer as well as my favourite balloon twisting series - Lil John's Balloons Vols 1-3. Fortunately Guy converted the trilogy from VHS to DVD and I had a new copy!
It's sad that many of these pioneers of the magic retail industry like Camirand Academy and Brad Burt's Magic Shop are no longer with us.

Re: Camirand Academy No Longer Retailing
Time has taken its toll on Mr. Camirand as it does on us all. He's traveling these days and evidently doesn't have the energy to manage the retail end of the Academy. It would be great if he could sell it and let it continue intact as it has for many years, just like Tannens and Magic Inc.

Very upsetting to hear this. I used to use their formulate lotion for my dry hands.

It appears that Vanishing Inc. has acquired the Camirand Academy Range:

I wonder if they'll add my name to Gary Ouellet's book on the Pass, since he stole my Half a Jiggle Pass and printed it without my permission after he begged me to teach it to him while I was in Toronto working on the Project Magic book with David Copperfield.
That said, Guy (pronounced Gee with a hard "G") Camirand is a swell fellow.

He didn't steal it. You taught it to him.
He published it without your permission.

Gary published a few questionable things if I recall.

Publishing something of mine that I taught him in confidence, giving himself credit, is stealing.

That is the risk we all take when sharing unpublished moves or effects with someone. Vernon would just let it go. It's probably a good idea to publish something and get the credit before sharing with anyone.

In your opinion, if you confront a publisher of stolen material, how should they react?Richard Kaufman wrote:Publishing something of mine that I taught him in confidence, giving himself credit, is stealing.
