I've been saving my last packet of microwavable popcorn for this event. Maybe some chocolate pudding afterwards.

Thanks, Dustin, for the Carbonaro interview.

And I am clueless about Barclay Shaw who Michael referenced.

Is this him?

It was a hoot. Lots of fun. My favorite part, without a doubt, was his "take" to the camera (the audience) right before the first handcuff escape. That was priceless.

Yes indeed, that was priceless and the finale with the planes was sensational!

Gotta love the title card that begins, "A drizzly night favors the fantastic plot..."

What fun it would be to go back in time and be a writer of those title cards!

Hello All

Was Larry Weeks the owner of the master copy of the Grim Game ?

Curious , off hand does anyone how many copies of the Grim Game are out there ?
and did TCM purchase the Copy from Larry Weeks directly or had he passed by this time .

Appreciate any feedback

Larry Weeks had the only known copy. It was purchased from him by Turner Classic Movies shortly before he died.

There are no other extant copies known. Aside from Larry showing it at his one-day conventions once or twice in the 1960s, I don't think the Grim Game has likely been seen by anyone in many decades. Once sound came in, the public had no interest in silent movies except for some avid fans and collectors.

If you guys are interested, I did an extensive interview with producer Rick Schmidlin all about how he acquired the film from Larry and what went into the restoration:

Thanks for the Info Richard,
Surprised that Copperfield does not have a copy ( as yet LOL )
Wonder if it will ever be aavilable to the public ..as sooner or later TCM will want to recoup the cash outlay for the films restoration.

I'm sure they'll be selling a blu-ray by Christmas.
