Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes
Fall—and change—is in the air at the House on the Hill. The AMA Newsletter has itself a new editor and it is Dustin his-own-self. My thanks to the General Manager, Joe Furlow and the Board of Directors for taking a chance on me.
Chef Sperber has added some tasty sounding fall items to the menu. Sure wish my blood sugar could handle the Pistachio Crème Brule: Pistachio and vanilla bean custard, burnt sugar and pistachio crumble.
And of course the new election season has commenced. Those wanting to place their names into the field are running about having their forms signed and everyone is looking forward to the “Meet the Candidates” events. There [/i] will[/i] be spots open on both boards (Directors and Trustees), so there will be some new faces on both. (A personal note to those for whom I have signed their petition: It does not mean that I will vote for or endorse you. What it means is that I am open to listening to your answers top my questions. After that, I will carefully consider all of the candidates.)
BOO!dini
This is a busy period for the Houdini Séance. It is highly recommended that you make your plans to attend one early! Contact (via phone or email; I wouldn’t count on the reliability of your spirit contact) AMA Spirit Director Josh Stern at jstern[at]magiccastle[dot]com or at extension 303 for information. Note that there are no non-dining séances scheduled for October.
BOO! (just in general …)
On October 12 and 13 Castle Knight Jason Davidson will be conducting “Ghost Tours” around The Magic Castle. Four tours per night at $10 each, and space is very limited! Tickets are to be purchased online; see the Newsletter for details. Proceeds benefit the Dai Vernon Fund.
Happy Birthday to The Hat!
Harry “The Hat” Anderson loves to spend his birthday at The Magic Castle and he throws the members a party. October 14 is a Members-Only night and Harry will be performing first in the Close-Up Gallery (four shows, one of which is private, starting at 7PM) and then will move up to the Parlour of Prestidigitation for another three shows starting at 10:15PM. Members will be seated on a first come, first served basis. Obviously this will be a busy night, so PLAN AHEA-
D!
Calling the Members of the Lollipop League
The annual Kids’ Fall Festival is on October 25. Brunch reservations are NOT a requirement, so bring the munchkins—in costume of course—so they can enjoy The Great Pumpkin, a costume contest (with prizes), games, cookie decorating, mask making, and all kinds-o-fun. Festivities start at 10:30AM and all members and their families are welcome!
Keep Your Head!
The theme for this year’s Halloween Celebration is “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” (Wouldn’t it be nifty if Castle devoté Johnny Depp appeared during the week, reprising his character from the movie? Not completely out of the realm of possible … .)
The week starts on 10/26 and runs through the 31st. Of course the clubhouse will be thoroughly decked out decoration-wise by the “Boo Crew” by then. There will be candy, tarot readers, themed cocktails and menu items, souvenirs, and more. Costumes are required most nights, so be sure to get your own-self decked out accordingly.
Wednesday the 28th is the Members-Only Halloween Party, so no guest cards will be accepted. There will be a special guest performer that night, so stay tuned for that detail.
The whole week is a party, so get your reservations NOW!!!
