Interesting article on how the brain integrates the various senses to form perceptions. In the article they describe a fascinating experiment when the brain takes "ownership" of what happens to a rubber hand. They authors also talk about a real life psychokinetic touch experiment.
Perhaps some of these principles can be (or have been) exploited in an illusion? At the very least, some patter possibilities may come to mind.

Both articles are behind a paywall.

Hi, Bill:
Thanks-- I deleted the second article because it was behind a paywall. I just tested the first article link--it seems to work and is free. (If you scroll down the article, the banner vanishes so you can read the article)

I get the first few lines and a box obscuring the rest of the article. The box says "To Read the Full Story, Subscribe or Sign In."

That's weird. It shows up fine for me.
Just to be sure, I cleaned out all of my cookies and cache and retried the link and it still goes through. It was listed on the WSJ site as a non-pay article, so I'm puzzled.
