250: At Home with Lupe & Norm Nielsen

After MAGIC Live!, David Sandy, Lance Rich and I were invited to the home of Lupe and Norm Nielsen. We enjoyed their hospitality and a nice chat which I recorded for The Magic Word. Norm and Lupe talked about their poster collection which has been sent to Chicago to be sold by Gabe Fajuri at Potter & Potter auctions over the next couple years. Norm also talked about how he first got started collecting posters, how he met Okito and how he got into building his props and his act that has taken him around the world several times.

David Sandy also shared Mac King's favorite story; the one about Faucett Ross's last request to be buried with his cat. But what do you do if he goes before his cat did? And what if a feral "devil cat" got accidentally switched in the casket? This story was added as a bonus to this podcast which was added while we were in Norm and Lupe's workshop out back.

I've been listening to the podcast the past couple of days and greatly enjoying it.

But thanks for posting the video of the act. Normally when I think of Norm, I think only of the floating violin, and I forget how beautiful the whole act is, all the perfect little moments. Anyone attempting a manipulation act today could learn a lot from this.
