217: The Good Old Days

Postby Scott Wells » April 2nd, 2015, 1:36 pm

This week's podcast isn't for everybody. I talk with some old magicians about even older magicians. Kent Cummins first offers us a short lecture on the history of the annual Austin (Texas) Magic Auction. You will hear the late Claude Crowe introducing Kent (RIP, my friend). Next up, Arthur Moses, noted collector of Houdini memorabilia, talks about a few of his recent acquisitions.

And finally, while attending the funeral of Doug Kornegay (yo-yo king in his youth and Dean of the S.A.M. Assembly #19), I chat with Gene and Madeline Willard about their father, Willard the Wizard and some of their exploits under the tent and on the road.

On the blog, you will also find a link to a five minute chat I had with the late Aldo Colombini that I recently uncovered. All in all, a pretty good podcast...for some.

You can read the blog, see a video, view some photos, hear a couple podcasts and download the MP3 file at: http://themagicwordpodcast.com/scottwel ... d-old-days You can of course listen through iTunes, TuneIn, Stitcher or FeedPress.

And BTW, I would like to know where you listen to The Magic Word podcasts. So, please take a selfie of you listening wherever you are (i.e. jogging, commuting to work, listening on your computer, at the kitchen table, etc.) and post the picture on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag MagicWordPod. That's #MagicWordPod I will post your pictures on upcoming blogs.

And thanks for listening.
