WSJ: Experiencing Awe

If magic helps audiences experience awe (wonder), is it helpful? The "data" cited in this article are hardly robust, but I thought it was an interesting read (and perhaps a patter premise).

? Awe as part of a process to elicit compliance... Robert Cialdini and others from a while back. In our literature we have the story with Robert-Houdin about awe used to disrupt compliance.

That may be the draw of Uri Geller and other mystery performers as distinct from magicians.
