Press Release:
MAGIC INC. ANNOUNCES
50 YEARS OF MAGIC ON LINCOLN AVENUE
WITH STREET SIGN NAME CHANGE TO
HONORARY JAY MARSHALL WAY
CHICAGO, IL—Magic Inc. is celebrating 50 years at 5082 N. Lincoln Avenue with some of the best magicians in the world today.
The three-day celebration kicks off on Thursday, July 17th at 11:00 A.M. when the street sign outside the magic shop at the corner of Lincoln and Carmen becomes “Honorary Jay Marshall Way” after the popular magician who was at the helm of Magic Inc. until his death in 2005. This event is open to the public.
Marshall, a television pioneer, was the Dean of the Society of American Magicians (SAM) from 1992 to 2005, appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show fourteen times and performed his act with his glove puppet—Lefty—everywhere in the English-speaking world for more than fifty years. He was
a regular on Bozo’s Circus here in Chicago. Jay’s younger son and daughter-in-law, Sandy and Susan Marshall, currently run Magic Inc., by making it the oldest continuously family run magic shop in North America.
The celebration for magicians continues at Theater Wit (1229 W. Belmont Avenue) with three days of magic shows and lectures July 17th, 18th and 19th. The magical performers include Tomsoni & Company (Las Vegas), Max Maven (Hollywood), Axel Hecklau (Germany), Jon Stetson (Boston), Richard Turner (San Antonio), and Chicago’s own Eugene Burger. Golden Tickets good for all events are $125 and may be purchased at www.magicinc.net or by calling (773) 334-2855.
There will also a bawdy, Adults Only show, “Wanker’s Night” at 10:00 P.M. on Friday, July 18th (open to the general public) featuring Tomas Medina, Dave Cox and the popular burlesque star, Eva La Feva. Tickets cost $27.00 each (general admission) and may be purchased at www.theaterwit.org

Wanker's night?
I'm assuming most Americans don't know what the word means then?

Au contraire, great chin-bearded one ... they/we know EXACTLY what it means.

Maybe you don't know quite how rude it is then? It's really not a 'light hearted' word. It's way up there on the scale of offence.
No way, ever would a night in England be called Wanker's Night.

I would say that Sandy Marshall knows exactly how rude it is, and as the son of Jay Marshall (who also undoubtedly knew how rude it was), they know what they're doing.

Since magicians aren't well known for handling mature content in a mature manner, I'll be skipping the extra-ticket event.
But I'm looking forward to the rest!

Believe me, Mr. grown-up (or not so grown-up, as the case may be) kid, the word "Wanker" itself is far more likely to be offended by its use in conjunction with a homage to Jay Marshall than anyone attending such an homage to Jay Marshall will be offended by the word.

England is still so damned Puritanical.
