Walter Blaney Documentary Series on YouTube

Postby Timothy Drake » February 24th, 2014, 3:13 pm

For some time now I have been editing a documentary on magic legend Walter Zaney Blaney. After deciding 60 years of a professional magic career was too much to put into a 60 minute video we opted create a documentary series instead on youtube. This way the footage will be archived and available online for future magic enthusiasts. Chapters will be added as they are finished being edited. Guest appearances by , David Copperfield, Mac King, Lance Burton, Steve Dacri, Jeff Hobson, Rick Thomas, Johnny Thompson and more.

In this chapter Walter Blaney tells the story of working with David Copperfield. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v41pXf2j55E

Best Regards,

Tim

Boy! I really loved watching this--thanks, Tim, for putting this up.

I'm continually impressed about how real pros do things the classy, right way. Great magic role models!

Thanks Erdnasephile,

As a young magician I had not really heard of Walter Blaney other than the Ladder Levitation. Years later when we became friends I realized how much I had been missing out on as he had a very rich magic history. He had many many stories to share from his 60 career so I decided to document them so other generations of young magicians could know more about him. Many who do know him don't know half of those adventures so a documentary series made sense. In addition to being the inventor of some great effects Walter had a finely tuned corporate banquet act. In 1964 he recorded part of that act and made a 45 rpm record to mail to perspective clients. This clip has some audio from that recording. Take a listen and you'll hear a performer on top of his game. http://youtu.be/rQ0qtjZibss

Best,

Tim

David Hoy aka " Dr. Faust" pulled off one of the classic jokes in magic history on Walter during what Walter thought was a live " on air" interview. Here Walter tells that story along with Stan Allen, Peter Reveen, Rick Thomas, Steve Dacri, Lance Burton and Jeff McBride. ( you'll also see some vintage footage of Walter I can promise you have NOT seen before...lol )
