May 25 Magic Show Fundraiser in Gaithersburg
To Showcase Nation’s Top Magicians

Local Magicians Produce Super Show, Featuring America’s “Master Mentalist” In Rare Appearance, To Aid Fellow Magician Requiring
Lung Surgery

GAITHERSBURG, MD.—A group of Washington, DC area magicians have banded together to bring some of America’s top magicians to perform a May 25th super show in Gaithersburg that will benefit a fellow magician who developed a rare lung disease by working with doves in his act.

The magic show will feature America’s “Master Mentalist” Jon Stetson and master magicians Francis Menotti and Rich Bloch. The members of the Comedy & Magic Society—Mark Phillips, Brian Curry, Bob Sheets and Barry Wood—are coordinating with Rich Bloch to produce the May 25 benefit. Proceeds of the show will benefit Boston, Massachusetts-based magician David Oliver who developed rare hypersensitivity pneumonitis or Bird Fancier’s Lung—an inflammation of the air sacks in the lungs—through continual exposure to doves’ dander in his magic act. Oliver is in need of a double lung transplant.

“David Oliver is a beloved figure in the industry and magicians along the East Coast are rallying to help him,” said event co-organizer Mark Phillips, a Washington, DC-based magician who performs nationwide at corporate events. “The result is that we’ve assembled a dazzling collection of magicians—a once-in-a-lifetime group—who will amaze the audience.”

List of Performers

Jon Stetson is known as America’s “Master Mentalist.” Jon knows what you are thinking. Really. Stetson routinely entertains presidents, celebrities and top CEOs around the world. This event will be a rare public appearance (www.jonstetson.com).

Francis Menotti is one of the most creative and talented magicians in the industry. Come to the show and find out why! (www.francismenotti.com).

Rich Bloch is a local Washingtonian considered one of magic’s “aristocracy” and the founder of Dickens Parlour Theatre in Millville, Delaware. Rich’s magic is as mind-boggling as the perfect Martini and his wit is twice as dry. You’ll be laughing so hard you won’t realize how badly he has fooled you (www.blochmagic.com).

The proceeds of the May 25th Magic Show Fundraiser will be donated to magician David Oliver in the form of a grant distributed by The Encore Foundation. The Encore Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that was founded by Rich Bloch to assist magicians and variety-arts performers in times of dire need.

“One of the greatest things about being involved in the magic industry is the willingness of folks to band together and look out for one another,” said Bloch. “This event will be just such an occasion. It will also be a terrific magic show.”

The Washington DC area fundraiser for David Oliver is tomorrow night! It is going to be a really great show featuring three top magicians, each with their own, unique style.

Jon Stetson, Francis Menotti and Rich Bloch are all well known in the magic community and, I am sure you will agree, are excellent examples of the today's best magic entertainers. If you are in the DC area, we are asking you to support David and give your friends an opportunity to see some great magic: please email them, tell them about the show, tell them they should go, and come out and show your support as well. All the money raised will go to David Oliver and will increase the profile of the Encore Foundation, a charitable foundation established to help magicians in times of crisis. The foundation has already helped numerous individuals and we should all want it to be there and ready to assist others in the future.

See you there!
