Re: Announcement of a Secret Project
"The issues in the regular Ask Alexander databank lag behind, however you can see ALL the recent issues going back to the January 2010 issue in the archive folder on the digital page."
Pls can you elaborate ? Which archive folder ?
I did read the instructions and have been accessing iGenii as per normal by following the link on the main page of Ask Alexander - but the lag on the flip version has become very noticeable of late. Is there an alternative method of viewing ?

Re: Announcement of a Secret Project
There is a row of buttons on the left when viewing the digital version on a computer. Click on the top button: the archive button. It will open up and show you all the digital issues going back to January 2010. That's in the instructions.
Your alternate method of viewing is to use a tablet, which provides a better interface.

Re: Announcement of a Secret Project
Aaah - misunderstood when you were referring to "lag" ... pages of the Feb issue were taking forever to load / render on the PC today when accessing AskAlexander.
It must have been a local ISP connection issue.

I had that problem at one point yesterday. It must have been their server.

Will there be a detailed account of Mike's legendary week at the Castle?

Re: Announcement of a Secret Project
How about a video interpretation of some of the effects he describes?

While there are benefits to that idea, I think it would be of far greater benefit for the listener to go with their own interpretation of the spoken word. Stirring creativity and imagination!

Re: Announcement of a Secret Project
I gather he discusses tricks, methods, handlings, etc. Will there be some benefit to the listener to be familiar with the items under discussion? For example, would I get more out of it if I have read the Classic Sampler?

Re: Announcement of a Secret Project
There will be at least one DVD in the set, but no footage seen before.
As to whether you need to be familar with the material in advance, the answer is sometimes yes, and other times no. Sometimes Michael explains only his presentation for an item--while the short-sighted might be disappointed by that, those who understand the true value of a professional's presentation will think it's gold. When he does discuss presentation, it's usually for an item that is easily available in the literature.
He does explain entire handlings with presentation as well.

Re: Announcement of a Secret Project
This is certainly the best news I have heard in a long while. I hope that the DVDs will be about when he was in his prime, as even though I enjoyed the DVD put out by Meir Yedid I still would like to see him when he was in his prime.
Looking forward to that as much as I am looking forward for the Jennings book.

Loosen up, Jackie Huang.
The Skinner project is fantastic news. He was one of the most knowledgeable magicians, a confidant and friend to many of the greats and his thoughts on magic are to be looked forward to with much anticipation.
Imagine being in a room overhearing one of magic's greats expound. These are his recorded conversations sent to his buddies.
A magical time machine.
I can't wait.

I remember Roy telling me about these tapes years ago. At the time I wondered just how amazing it would be to hear them, and now I get a chance. W00t!

Actually even earlier in a Kaufman and Greenberg ad in the May 1995 Magic Magazine (page 8): "Read his Forthcoming Kaufman and Greenberg book, Mr. Jennings Takes It Easy this Fall"

That's right: I'll sleep when I'm dead ... And I'll sneak in that book on Japanese close-up magic, too.
