This will be one fine convention.
(Why do you ask for date of birth?)

Thanks for registering, Doug. I just noticed your location: "Gorgeous New Jersey!" That gave a chuckle--I assume you don't live near Elizabeth!

As to why we are asking for people's birth dates, we may have something involving the date for registrants if the planets align, the eclipse doesn't happen too soon, and the weather holds. :)

It's a birthday party. Everyone should get something special at a birthday party.

I tried to register yesterday, but when I was transferred to PayPal for payment, it wouldn't let me complete the transaction. There was a wierd blank box over the select payment method section. I finally just had to bail out. Not sure if the glitch was on my end or PayPal. I'll try again today.

There was a glitch for a few minutes in the hotel registration page, and it showed Wednesday the 3rd as sold out. That is NOT the case, and if anyone had tried to book that date and had a problem, it's been fixed.

Registrations going fast! :) Thank you!

So my justification is that I am not going to Vegas this January as usual, so won't be going to the Castle, as usual, afterwards.

So, I reckon by October all the paint should have dried there, therefore, I should come to the genii conference, then go to LA and the Castle afterwards.

Seems like a winning plan to me.

Okay, now it worked. I think it was the stupid PayPal "bill me later" offer box popping up that was causing the problem. Booked an extra day at the hotel so I can hit WDW on Wednesday. :)

I registered yesterday and had the problem with the sold out on the 3rd. It was easily corrected by contacting the hotel directly and requesting the extra day.

This will be my first magic convention in more than 30 years!! Last time was in Sandefjord in Norway (Slydini and Jay Marshall were the highlights)
:) :) :)

As further incentive to go to Orlando during October...Disney World will be hosting their fabulous Food & Wine Festival. Make plans to gorge either before or after Genii's 75th Birthday Bash.

That's right I almost forgot. Held this year from 9/28 to 11/11 in Epcot, the event offers international food kiosks, wine tasting, cooking classes and live entertainment.

My son spent two days there last October with his girlfriend and her parents and had a blast. On the weekends there are lines to contend with but you get that with every park/attraction. Hopefully this October the summer heat will have broke by the time of the Anniversary weekend and it'll offer everyone a reason to arrive early or stay a few extra days.

Lots of people walk around World Showcase and go from kiosk to kiosk getting snockered. I'm not suggesting you do that, but lots of folks do and enjoy it immensely. :)

You meet some very interesting people who are "drinking their way around the world" at Epcot.

*sigh*

i want to go but not sure yet.
Lots of 75th going on and it would be nice
to get dad to one of them.

Just received a page from a 1970 Genii
reporting on the combined IBM/SAM in
Milwaukee about dad being the best act
performing. So it's nice to have that in
my archives if anything, for my book research.

The website is superb, by the way.

Apologies if I'm obtuse, but when reserving a room, the option pops up "Run of House" (which certainly sounds cool - yet reckless - for a bunch of magicians), but will we have a choice of room when we get there? It's a non-smoking facility, okay, got that, but what about two beds vs. one? (Or does that go in the "Comments / Special Requests" box?)

Hi Doug, just call the hotel and request either a King room (single bed) or Queen room (two beds).

I'm planning to go to the Genii Bash and having the rest of the week at Disney and Universal.

I was wondering if my spouse can come to the shows at the convention or if there is a special registration fees for them?

Hi Yves, nice to hear that you are coming. There is no special rate for spouses because we are tight for space--paying the normal registration will entitle her to watch all the shows and events (we are having more performances and fewer lectures than some conventions), and she'll receive the swag as well (which you can probably sell afterward and recoup at least half of her registration fee).
