Arse wipes like this are beyond contempt... And not only because of the damage, both long and short term, inflicted on the kids, which is, of course, the most horrible aspect of their degenerate behavior. Their actions also affect those of us who count on the childrens entertainment niche for a living. Its gotten so bad that as a middle-age white man who sometimes (more often than he likes) performs for children, I am automatically viewed as a potential pedophile. When I embarked on a new career as a full-time performer (non-magical) last year after being corporately downsized, I was unprepared for the suspicious glances, sarcastically-toned questions and haughty denials from childrens librarians and party planners. Stories like these underscore not only the reasons, but the necessity for the skepticism and sometimes seemingly excessive caution. And of course we performers must be hyper-vigilant, which often makes for stilted, awkward moments Say when a child or two rushes up to give a quick hug because they bonded with me as a performer, and instead I carefully hold out my hand for a brief,two-finger, three-foot distant shake. Frankly I prefer to work for adults, but when youre trying to make a living its difficult to turn down a gig. May these jerks receive the treatment they deserve while incarcerated.

Anthony makes some very valid points with regard to us that entertain children as part of what we do.

With regard to the hugs. This is obvious really but for those who haven't though of it the best way I have found to deal with this when it happens is to drop on to one knee. Not only does it bring you down to their level physically but the knee that is bent also creates a space of sorts between you and the child.

Another thing, I always encourage adults to stay in the room while i am with the kids. And if they won't I ensure a door is always left open to the room they are in.

While pedophilia is indeed a mental illness, for a parent I think it's almost impossible to allow the perpetrator any leniancy because he or she can't help themselves. Unlike many mental illnesses, pedophilia is almost impossible to cure and the rate of recidivism is extremely high.

Once a child molester, always a potential child molester.

I don't have any sympathy at all for this type of scoundrel and forced castration should be mandatory.

Then you probably shouldnt read the recent parliamentary testimony of Dr. Hubert Van Gijseghem who believes that pedophilia is a sexual orientation. He says they are grappling with what is equivalent to a sexual orientation just like another individual may be grappling with heterosexuality or even homosexuality. (And do I dare mention that this is not a new argument? It has been made in this country as well--including some seeking "protection" under the law as a minority class.)

No argument: Pedophilia is a diagnosable mental illness. But that neither mitigates nor excuses the actions of predators who, under the guise of children's performers, stalk, select and sodomize their victims. Especially since none of the cases listed in Dodd's original post appear to have been acquitted for reasons of mental incapacity. There are much better (or worse) names for them; I held back!

He was convicted of 3 counts of sodomy and one of unlawful sexual penetration.

There was quite a long thread about this topic a while back which you can see here.

And from that thread here is a link to the sodomy law pertaining to Oregon.

I don't know anything else about the Pace case other then what I have read online though I am sure some posters here might be able to fill you in.

I don't know the exact charges filed, perhaps we can all stop beating around the bush and someone who knows can actually post what he was charged and found guilty for.
